Enverus is seeking a senior power market practitioner to support the analytical validation and own the QA/QC process for our long-term forecasting effort while serving as a constructive skeptic and senior advisor to leadership. This is an individual-contributor, client-facing role that sits within our Power and Energy Transition Intelligence organization working closely with other power-market colleagues, Product management, and leadership. It is designed to make rigorous review a required operating step of forecast development and delivery.
The Director, Research - Power Markets will ensure that long-term price outputs move through a disciplined QA/QC process, that relevant expert input is incorporated or explicitly considered, and that material concerns are surfaced early enough during forecast delivery cycles for the team and leadership to resolve them effectively. The role also brings practical market experience to challenge discussions so that strong technical work across the forecasting team is pressure-tested against real market behavior and supportability.
Performance Objectives
  • Own and maintain the QA/QC and analytical validation process for long-term price outputs and ensure it is executed as a required step before shipment.
  • Act as a market-informed, constructive skeptic on assumptions, scenarios, outputs, and interpretation.
  • Ensure relevant internal expertise is engaged at the right points in the cycle and that key input is incorporated or explicitly considered.
  • Define the review cadence, validation checklist, issue-tracking approach, and criteria for surfacing material concerns.
  • Advise senior leadership on forecast validity risks and areas that need sharper judgment or stronger process discipline.
  • Operate effectively in a remote environment by influencing through structure, written clarity, trusted working relationships, and a strong external presence with clients and prospects.
  • Contribute directly to research production and interpretation so that published views are analytically rigorous and commercially supportable.
  • Represent Enverus on customer calls, prospect discussions, and selected market-facing presentations as a senior individual contributor.

What success looks like
  • The forecasting team follows a clear, repeatable QA/QC process, and prices do not move forward when that process has not been executed.
  • Important concerns are surfaced earlier and resolved with less late-stage disruption.
  • Leadership has greater confidence in both the rigor of the process and the quality of the resulting discussions.
  • Customers and prospects experience the role as a credible, market-savvy individual contributor who can explain the work, support research, and
  • strengthen external confidence in Enverus outputs.
  • You increase challenge quality and market realism without becoming a unilateral decision-maker, a sole domain authority, or bottleneck.
  • Your work contributes to a well-defined operating model where functional delivery, QA/QC rigor, product timelines, and client-facing credibility are clearly covered and mutually reinforcing.

Competitive Candidate Profile
  • Deep North American power-market experience, ideally including direct participation in trading, portfolio management, asset optimization, commercial strategy, or market analysis.
  • Experience using, challenging, or governing power-market forecasts in real commercial settings.
  • Strong judgment about the difference between a meaningful issue and background noise.
  • Ability to build and run disciplined review processes, not just offer opinions on results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, especially the ability to turn disagreement into clear decision support.
  • Comfort operating as a senior individual contributor in front of clients, including customer calls, travel, and presentations that explain market views and research implications.
  • Comfort with and effectiveness at influencing teams and effective collaboration.
  • 5+ years of related experience.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering/ Economics/ Computer Science, or related field with an outstanding record of academic achievement and demonstrated aptitude for analytics.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with another person.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.

  • Travel requirements - up to 20% or as required for company needs.
