Join Fishโ€™s team in our fast-paced Risk and Compliance Department as a Conflicts Attorney. This role is part of The Hub, Fishโ€™s remote-first group of professionals. Hub employees work primarily from home with no expectation of a regular in-office presence. The preferred working hours are 9-5 or 10-6 pacific time.

How Will You Make a Difference?

  • Maintain proficient level of knowledge of and advise on ethical requirements across relevant jurisdictions, including the ABA model rules, Title 37 C.F.R., and other relevant legal ethics issues. Provide research, analysis, and recommendations to ensure the firmโ€™s compliance.
  • Analyze conflict of interest reports, identify and resolve potential conflicts of interest. Work and communicate directly with the firmโ€™s attorneys and their assistants to resolve potential conflicts issues.
  • Research lateral candidate issues, including former government employee requirements and state adoption of ABA Model Rules โ€“ and draft appropriate waivers or notices, and declarations.
  • Manage Intake Committee meetings and support committee members with business research and other assistance as needed.
  • Train Conflicts staff on identifying and resolving complex ethical and subject matter conflicts in connection with new business and lateral hire reviews.
  • Advise Conflicts staff regarding business and ethical conflict of interest issues, including the creation or modification of ethical walls.
  • Assist attorneys, paralegals, assistants and operations staff with understanding the firmโ€™s new business and lateral review policies and procedures.
  • Assist with ongoing maintenance of conflicts database information to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Work with department leadership to document and improve current processes and procedures.

What Will You Bring to the Table?

  • Requires a Juris Doctor degree and bar membership in good standing in the state in which the person works.
  • Requires 3+ yearsโ€™ experience working in the conflicts or new business intake department of a law firm
  • Requires thorough knowledge of law firm administrative processes acquired through related ethics and conflicts experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the identification, analysis, and resolution of conflicts of interest, including ethical, subject matter, and business conflicts.
  • Working knowledge of automated conflicts databases.
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills to conduct complex and detailed research and analysis of legal matters. Ability to think strategically, to identify issues and problems, and recommend and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically in a professional manner with all levels of legal, management, clients, and support staff, handling sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and tact.
  • Excellent client service skills, including the ability to display a professional, client-centric, and service-oriented attitude to both internal and external clients.
  • Requires proficiency in utilizing Microsoft 365 office applications including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as the willingness and aptitude to learn and adapt to evolving technologies as appropriate.
  • Knowledge of InTapp Conflicts software products is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and ability to escalate and communicate issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Ability to quickly change and adapt to current and future responsibilities and circumstances.
  • Occasional travel may be required in this position.

Final compensation will be based on a variety of factors, including education, experience, skills, professional background, and overall qualifications.
