Part-Time Certified Online ELA, Social Studies, and Electives Teacher- FULLY Remote

Student Choice High School invites students ages 16-21 to earn their high school diploma through our flexible online program. We offer a unique learning environment where certified teachers and support staff are available on demand to provide individualized instruction along with social and emotional guidance. This personalized approach is paired with a standards-based curriculum that supports self-paced learning, continuous progress monitoring, and comprehensive assessment tools. By working closely with each student, we ensure they have the resources and one-on-one mentorship needed to successfully complete their secondary education.


Terms of Employment:

  • Starting Range:$32.10-$39.08per hour,based on experience and level of education.
  • Part-Time employment equivalent to 18 hours per week. The schedule depends on student needs, courses, and assignment support and is highly flexible. Part-time employees play an 'on-call' role for students. Some nights/weekend availability will be required, in addition to availability during business hours. Our Online Program enrolls, graduates, and supports students 365 days a year!
  • PTO (Four hours of PTO are earned each month.)
  • Eligible for Bonus Opportunities.
  • This is a fully remote position. Staff laptop provided.


JOB SUMMARY: Certified teachers foster a positive online learning environment that facilitates the personal, social, and academic growth of students ages 16-21. In this role, online educators provide individualized support and instructional guidance to help each student successfully navigate their coursework and earn a high school diploma with flexible scheduling.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: These duties are a representative sample.

  • Manage primary instruction for ELA, Social Studies, and elective courses while serving as the EL Coordinator to provide integrated support for English Learners as required.
  • Monitor and ensure the efficacy of "Academic Assurances," which define the district's academic policies and procedures.
  • Deliver personalized instruction and real-time support through phone, messaging, video, and virtual meetings, including availability outside regular business hours (7:30 am- 4:00 pm Mountain Standard Time )to meet specific student needs.
  • Tailor instructional strategies and communication styles to respect the diverse maturity levels, life experiences, and legal requirements of both minor and adult learners.
  • Foster a positive learning environment by responding efficiently to individual student needs and proactively conducting outreach to students, as well as parents or guardians of minor students.
  • Monitor and analyze student progress data to drive individualized success and participate in IEP meetings to support specialized student requirements.
  • Conduct frequent, proactive academic outreach to ensure continuous course progress and academic achievement for students.
  • Collaborate respectfully with all stakeholders to achieve program goals and uphold the vision, mission, and core values of Student Choice High School.
  • Promote digital citizenship and provide technical guidance to help students navigate the learning management system and overcome barriers to engagement.
  • Identify and report indicators of student distress or neglect in accordance with mandated reporting laws while maintaining strict confidentiality of student records under FERPA.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, and school statutes, rules, policies, and procedures.
  • An innate passion for student success and persistence in providing individualized support.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public, and others having business with the school district.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer and utilizing Google Workspace.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Highly qualified ELA teaching certification with SEI Endorsement
  • Previous experience with online course facilitation.
  • Desire to positively impact adolescents and adults ages 16-21
  • Excellent Communication Skills

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school assistant or Classroom teaching experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of online learning environments along with the instructional strategies of both pedagogy and andragogy.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
