Search & Comparison IntentOften compared due to overlapping roles in system reliability and cloud infrastructureCompared for on-site vs remote operational responsibilities

The main difference is that Remote Reliability Engineers focus on cloud and system reliability remotely, while Remote Site Reliability Engineers may have some on-site duties related to infrastructure. Both roles require similar skills and certifications but differ in their work environment and specific responsibilities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Reliability Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Reliability Engineer, you need a strong background in systems engineering, software development, and infrastructure management, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Proficiency with cloud platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP), monitoring tools (like Prometheus, Grafana), and relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) is highly valuable. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills are crucial for working effectively across distributed teams and responding to incidents. These abilities ensure system reliability, quick incident resolution, and seamless remote teamwork, which are vital for maintaining high service uptime and user satisfaction.

How do Remote Reliability Engineers typically collaborate with on-site teams to address urgent technical issues?

Remote Reliability Engineers often utilize a combination of video conferencing, instant messaging, and collaborative monitoring tools to stay closely connected with on-site teams. When urgent technical issues arise, they participate in real-time troubleshooting sessions, analyze system logs remotely, and may guide on-site staff through step-by-step resolution procedures. Building strong communication channels and regular check-ins are essential to ensure swift and effective collaboration, even across different time zones. This structure allows Remote Reliability Engineers to contribute significantly to system uptime while working from a distance.

What is a Remote Reliability Engineer?

A Remote Reliability Engineer is a professional who works from a remote location to ensure that systems, applications, or infrastructure are reliable, available, and performing well. Their responsibilities typically include monitoring system health, diagnosing issues, implementing preventative measures, and collaborating with teams to improve system reliability. They often use tools for automation, incident response, and performance monitoring, all while working offsite. This role is critical in minimizing downtime and ensuring a smooth user experience, especially for companies with complex technical environments. Remote Reliability Engineers must have strong problem-solving skills and be proficient in cloud technologies, automation, and incident management.

Boam AI

Miami, FL โ€ข On-site, Remote

Full-time

Posted 27 days ago

Job description

Be the first product leader and ship what defines the category
Boam AI is a well-funded, fast-growing, profitable B2B startup. We build managed data agents that transform messy, unstructured signals from public, private, and proprietary sources into structured, reliable, and always up-to-date intelligence on millions of SMBs and enterprises worldwide. These agentic systems power CRMs, data warehouses, AI products, and mission-critical decisions across the enterprise with strategic partners such as Uber Eats and Toast.
As Head of Product, you will be the first product leader at Boam AI and the person who turns customer pull into a focused roadmap and shipped outcomes. You'll work directly with the CEO, operate as a cross-functional driver across data, engineering, and ML, and own end-to-end delivery from discovery to adoption.
This is a senior, highly technical product role for someone who thrives in messy data, quality systems, and enterprise workflows, and who can set the bar for what "excellent product" means in a company where data is the product. The role starts hands-on: you'll operate as an IC, get your hands dirty, and ship. Over time, you'll have the opportunity to build the entire product org around you as we scale.
What You'll Do
  • Own product strategy and roadmap for Boam AI's data + agent platform
  • Make the calls: ruthless prioritization, crisp tradeoffs, clear sequencing
  • Turn enterprise customer pain into specs teams can build and ship fast
  • Drive cross-functional execution across data, engineering, ML, and ops
  • Define quality, freshness, and reliability standards customers can trust
  • Build tight feedback loops with market-leading customers and partners
  • Establish success metrics and operating rhythms that keep shipping honest
  • Lead launches end-to-end: rollout, adoption, enablement, iteration
  • Use and evaluate next-gen AI and modern product tools to accelerate execution

You Might Be a Fit If...
  • 8+ years building and leading technical products end to end
  • Deep data platform experience: pipelines, schemas, APIs, integrations, quality
  • You can go from customer conversation โ†’ spec โ†’ shipped system quickly
  • Proven track record shipping complex, cross-team initiatives in production
  • Founder mindset with strong early-stage experience (ex-founder is a big plus)
  • You combine ruthless prioritization with high standards for correctness and reliability
  • Engineers trust you: go deep, challenge designs, ship fast with minimal process
  • You want real ownership and impact, and you're excited to build the product org over time

Why Boam AI
  • Be the first product leader and shape the product org from scratch
  • Work directly with the CEO on the highest-stakes priorities every week
  • Direct exposure to market-leading customers and enterprise workflows
  • Own mission-critical systems that become the "truth layer" for our partners
  • High autonomy, real authority, and clear ownership from day one
  • Operate at the intersection of AI, data infrastructure, and customer outcomes
  • Top-tier compensation with meaningful equity upside
  • Build product patterns and culture you'll be proud of at 100x scale

Our Hiring Process
Our process is fast, structured, and transparent, built to respect your time and surface real mutual fit
1. Intro Call
Quick conversation to align on ambition, fit, and what you're optimizing for
2. Deep Dive
Walk through products you shipped: decisions, tradeoffs, and execution muscle
3. Work Sample
A Boam-style product challenge (customer brief + PRD-lite + sequencing + metrics)
4. Founder Conversation
Candid discussion on ownership, standards, pace, and building product at Boam AI
Remote (US)*: At this time, we're not accepting applications from candidates based in NJ, NY, IL, VT and MD.
