What are some common challenges faced by remote recruiters, and how can they be addressed?

Remote recruiters often face challenges such as building rapport with candidates virtually, coordinating across different time zones, and maintaining clear communication with hiring managers. To address these challenges, leveraging video conferencing tools for more personal interactions, using scheduling apps to accommodate time differences, and establishing regular check-ins with the hiring team are effective strategies. Additionally, utilizing collaborative software for tracking candidates and sharing feedback can help ensure a smooth, transparent recruitment process.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote recruiter?

To thrive as a Remote Recruiter, you need a solid understanding of talent acquisition strategies, candidate sourcing, and interview techniques, typically supported by experience in HR or recruiting. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), recruiting platforms like LinkedIn, and video interviewing tools is essential. Strong communication, organization, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for building relationships and managing processes independently. These skills enable recruiters to efficiently source top talent and ensure a smooth hiring process in a virtual environment.

What does a remote recruiter do?

A remote recruiter finds qualified candidates to fill job openings for their clients. Unlike recruiters that work in the office, remote recruiters often work from home. Your responsibilities include meeting with clients to discuss their hiring needs and obtain a list of qualifications and duties for the role. You search job boards, social media networks, and other relevant sites to identify job seekers that meet the criteria preferred by your client. Most remote recruiters perform an initial screening with the candidate on the phone and then may meet in person before forwarding the job seeker's information on to the hiring supervisor at the company. Remote recruiters are usually paid a commission if their client hires the candidate they found.

Job description

About us

Office Hours is an online platform that lets users earn income by sharing what they know. Users create knowledge profiles to accept hourly consultation requests or survey opportunities based on their professional expertise. Companies and organizations seeking unique insights can search the Office Hours marketplace to quickly find and learn from thousands of advisors on demand.

What we believe

We believe that human knowledge is the world's most valuable asset. And yet, despite being more interconnected than ever, most knowledge still remains stuck in our heads, inaccessible and underutilized. Office Hours' mission is to help everyone realize the value of what they know by building tools for the knowledge-sharing economy.

Our team is headquartered in San Francisco and backed by top marketplace and business operators like Saar Gur, Marco Zappacosta, Lenny Rachitsky, Jackson Gates, and Aaron Levie. Our customers include the fastest-growing digital health companies, software startups, venture capital firms, and leading consulting firms.

Summary

We are looking for a recruiter to own sourcing, selecting, and hiring talent to help us scale our team to meet rapidly increasing demand. You will manage the full recruitment cycle, from identifying job openings and creating job descriptions to screening candidates, conducting initial interviews, and extending offers. You will work closely with leadership and hiring managers to define hiring needs, identify top talent, and create a strong company culture through recruitment.

We are looking for candidates that are excited to face the joys and challenges of growing a business.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Leadership: Work closely with founders, executives, and hiring managers to understand team needs and align recruitment efforts with the company's vision and growth goals.
  • Talent Sourcing: Proactively identify and engage top talent for technical and non-technical roles through job boards, social media, referrals, and networking events.
  • Full-Cycle Recruiting: Manage the entire recruitment process, from job postings and resume screenings to interviewing, negotiating offers, and onboarding.
  • Employer Branding: Help craft and communicate the startup's brand to attract top-tier candidates, emphasizing the company's culture, mission, and growth opportunities.
Qualifications
  • You thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment with changing hiring needs
  • You are an excellent communicator
  • You think outside the box to find creative solutions to hiring challenges, especially in competitive job markets
  • You thrive when you truly own something
  • You have a strong intuition for whether people will align with the company's values and growth objectives
  • 4+ years recruiting experience
Bonus Points
  • Prior experience working at a startup
  • Experience recruiting for both technical and non-technical roles
Our Benefits
  • Competitive salary & stock options
  • Healthcare, dental, and vision coverage
  • Wellness/fitness benefit
  • Flexible vacation time, regular company holidays
  • Company retreats (Tahoe, Maui, Mendocino, Mexico City)
  • Parent-friendly, remote work, and paid family leave

Join our team and help everyone realize the true power of what they know!

Pay Transparency Notice:

Full time offers from Office Hours also include target equity + benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).

US-based pay range: $100,000 - $130,000 OTE based on seniority and relevant experience

This is a hybrid role, in our San Francisco office 2-3 times per week.

Don't meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that some candidates, especially underrepresented groups such as women and people of color, are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Office Hours we believe in building a diverse and inclusive workplace, so if you're excited about this role but don't meet every qualification in the job description, we still encourage you to apply. You could still be the right candidate for this or other roles at Office Hours!
