Overview
Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently recruiting Remote Medical Support Assistants (Medical Receptionist) to support the Salt Lake City VA Medical Center located at 500 S. Foothill Drive, Salt Lake City, UT, 84148. This is a remote position; however, candidates must be willing and able to work onsite if required. Working hours are Mon-Fri, 7am-6pm (8-hour shifts within this window). Responsibilities
  • Perform appointment scheduling, tracking, and pre- and post-appointment patient contact in accordance with VA scheduling policies.
  • Serve as the designated scheduler/receptionist and coordinate appointment activities across assigned clinics or departments.
  • Screen and respond to incoming phone calls in a courteous and timely manner; answer patient and provider inquiries regarding services.
  • Validate, update, and maintain accurate patient demographic information, including insurance, contact details, and emergency contacts.
  • Process community care consults and referrals using VA systems, including HSRM, PPMS, VistA, and CPRS.
  • Coordinate and authorize Veteran care with community providers when services are not available or cannot be provided timely by the VA.
  • Communicate with internal medical providers regarding VA Community Care rules, regulations, and appropriate processes.
  • Ensure received medical records and administrative documentation are accurately uploaded and integrated into CPRS and VistA.
  • Monitor and report system issues or outages to the contracting supervisor as needed.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel) daily to support scheduling, communication, and reporting.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service to Veterans, families, VA staff, physicians, and contractors at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, lead schedulers, and team members to ensure timely patient communications and workflow efficiency.
  • Maintain compliance with VA privacy, security, and confidentiality standards, including HIPAA requirements.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Minimum typing speed of 50 words per minute.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Minimum 6 months of customer service experience.
  • Ability to work remotely and independently in a professional setting.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable VA background investigation (NACI) and PIV credential.
  • No physical or health restrictions that would interfere with job performance.
  • Ability to complete all required VA onboarding, security, privacy, and mandatory training prior to and during assignment.
  • U.S. citizenship required.

All candidates must be able to:
  • Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
  • Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
  • Lift up to 20 lbs
  • Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
