Job description

Technical Instructor, Design Services
Interstates is seeking a Technical Instructor, Design Services to help develop and grow our VDC designers and drafters. This role is responsible for creating and delivering engaging, effective training that builds technical capability, strengthens leadership skills, and reinforces Interstates' standards and best practices across our design teams. The ideal candidate combines strong VDC/MEP technical expertise with the ability to teach, coach, and facilitate learning for adult audiences. This position works closely with project leaders, subject matter experts (SMEs), and design teams to create learning experiences that improve consistency, quality, confidence, and performance across design services.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, administer, and continuously improve Interstates' technical training programs
  • Identify, develop, and deliver technical training to meet personnel needs and certification requirements
  • Plan, direct, and facilitate training through classroom, hands-on, virtual, e-learning, workshop, and simulator-based methods
  • Prepare course agendas, training materials, and instructor resources
  • Conduct presentations and lead training sessions for a variety of audiences
  • Train and develop SMEs to support course facilitation and knowledge transfer
  • Create instructional materials, course outlines, training aids, and supporting documentation
  • Partner with project leaders, SMEs, and design teams to align training with business needs and evolving industry practices
  • Support the Training Team as needed based on business priorities and regulatory requirements
  • Continuously improve instructional delivery, presentation skills, and training effectiveness

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or Associate degree in a relevant technical field such as Electrical Construction, Automation, Manufacturing, Drafting, or Safety
  • 3-5 years of adult training experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong technical experience in VDC and/or MEP
  • Revit proficiency is strongly preferred
  • Experience with tools such as Bluebeam, Revizto, Inventor, and Microsoft Office tools
  • Experience with assembly-based workflows inside Revit is a plus
  • Strong public speaking, presentation, and group facilitation skills
  • Ability to train adults and develop SMEs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to write reports, manuals, and business correspondence
  • Comfort presenting to managers, clients, and general audiences
  • Strong reasoning, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to interpret technical procedures, regulations, and instructions
  • Willingness to travel and work evenings or weekends as needed
  • Positive, professional demeanor and a commitment to ongoing development

Travel Requirements: Travel will be required and will vary based on business needs, up to 35% of the time.

Compensation: The pay range for this position is $70,040 - $87,550+ benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by the experience and education required, and level of responsibility. The range posted for this role represents a range that Interstates, in good faith, believes it is willing to pay at the time of this posting. The pay is determined by job related skills, training, education, and experience.
