Job Summary
The Senior GIS Specialist provides advanced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analysis, application development, database design, and enterprise geospatial support for complex projects and organizational initiatives. The Senior GIS Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining GIS databases, developing automated workflows and geoprocessing tools, performing systems analysis, and supporting enterprise GIS operations using Esri technologies

Compensation:
This pay band reflects Chloeta's good faith estimate of the range it expects to offer; Chloeta reserves the right to alter this range if business circumstances change.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced GIS analysis, systems design, application development, and database management to support organizational projects and initiatives.

  • Analyze business requirements and develop GIS solutions that improve data management, operational efficiency, and decision-making.

  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain enterprise geodatabases and GIS data models.

  • Create and maintain automated GIS workflows using Python, Arcade, ModelBuilder, and other Esri automation tools.

  • Develop custom GIS applications, scripts, geoprocessing models, and analytical tools.

  • Configure user and project environments for GIS projects, including project setup, permissions, and data organization.

  • Develop and maintain GIS processing procedures, automation routines, and documentation.

  • Maintain enterprise GIS databases, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and compliance with organizational standards.

  • Perform data editing, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), and validation of geospatial datasets.

  • Produce high-quality maps, spatial analyses, and cartographic products using ArcGIS Pro and related software.

  • Perform GIS data conversion, integration, digitization, and georeferencing activities as required.

  • Support enterprise GIS infrastructure, including ArcGIS Online, geodatabases, and GIS applications.

  • Develop documentation for GIS workflows, technical procedures, and system configurations.

  • Assist with implementation of mobile GIS solutions and modern field data collection workflows.

  • Troubleshoot GIS software, databases, and application issues while recommending technical improvements.

  • Collaborate with project managers, technical staff, and stakeholders to deliver GIS solutions that meet project requirements.

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of GIS principles, spatial analysis, and geospatial database design.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise GIS architecture and geodatabase management.

  • Experience developing GIS automation tools using Python, Arcade, and ModelBuilder.

  • Knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and enterprise geospatial workflows.

  • Experience designing GIS data models and database schemas.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

  • Experience developing GIS applications, automation scripts, and custom geoprocessing tools.

  • Knowledge of cartographic design principles and map production.

  • Familiarity with mobile GIS workflows and field data collection technologies.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

Education and Experience
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Natural Resources Management, Earth Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field

  • Required: Minimum of three (3) years of professional GIS production experience OR Successful completion of any combination of 3 the following ESRI training courses within the past two years. This may be substituted for some of the experience and/or time requirements:
    • ArcGIS Pro.
    • Introduction of Geoprocessing Scripts Using Python.
    • Basics of Python.
    • Managing Lidar Data Using Mosaic Datasets.
    • Map Design Fundamentals.
    • Creating Prediction Surfaces in ArcGIS.
    • Building Geoprocessing Models Using ArcGIS Pro.
    • Creating and Sharing GIS Content Using ArcGIS Online
    • User Workflows for ArcGIS Online Organizations.

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, etc.
  • Must have valid driver's license and REAL ID
