Remote Rack Builder information
What is the difference between Remote Rack Builder vs Network Rack Installer?
| Aspect | Remote Rack Builder | Network Rack Installer |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Basic technical knowledge, possibly certifications in IT or networking | Certifications in networking, cabling, or electrical work often required |
| Work Environment | Remote, often from home or office, designing and planning racks | On-site, physically installing and configuring racks in data centers or server rooms |
| Industry Usage | IT, data center planning, hardware configuration | Data centers, telecommunications, enterprise IT infrastructure |
Remote Rack Builders focus on designing and planning server racks remotely, while Network Rack Installers physically set up and configure racks on-site. Both roles require technical knowledge, but the former is more design-oriented and remote, whereas the latter involves hands-on installation.

We build what the future runs on. Accelevation designs, manufactures and installs the physical infrastructure that powers today’s most advanced technologies. We’ve grown over 440% in the last 18 months because we take ownership, solve hard problems, and build with purpose. Join us to build the future.
As an Electrical Estimator focused on data center fit-outs, you’ll deliver accurate, competitive, and clearly documented cost estimates that drive successful project outcomes. Your expertise ensures that our mission-critical interior buildouts are priced correctly, aligned with redundancy requirements, and executed with speed and precision.
• Review drawings, one-lines, risers, specifications, and scope narratives for data center fit-out and white space projects
• Perform detailed digital takeoffs using McCormick and/or Accubid
• Develop labor, material, and equipment pricing for:
• Overhead busway systems
• Rack whips, cabling, and in-row distribution
• Grounding and bonding systems
• Lighting and controls for white space and support areas
• Branch circuitry, panelboards, and raceway systems (tray, conduit, underfloor)
• Interpret and apply redundancy architectures (N, N+1, 2N) to interior fit-out scope
• Identify constructability constraints related to live environments, phased turnovers, and concurrent trades
• Solicit, analyze, and level vendor/manufacturer quotes
• Prepare detailed proposals, clarifications, inclusions, exclusions, and alternates
• Support design-assist and preconstruction efforts
• Participate in handoff meetings with project management and field teams
• Assist in change order pricing, GMP development, and budget updates
• Maintain and update historical cost data specific to white space and data hall buildouts
• 3+ years of electrical estimating experience, ideally in data center fit-outs, mission-critical interiors, or high-density commercial environments
• Hands-on experience with McCormick and/or Accubid (required)
• Strong understanding of branch power distribution, rack-level power, and data hall layouts
• Ability to read and interpret one-lines, riser diagrams, floor plans, RCPs, control schematics, and construction documents
• Strong NEC knowledge, particularly grounding and bonding
• Proficiency with Excel and digital takeoff tools (Bluebeam, PlanSwift, etc.)
• Ability to manage multiple bids under aggressive deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Journeyman or Master Electrician background
• Experience with RPPs, busway, whip systems, modular buildouts, and phased tenant fit-outs
• Experience working in live or active data center environments
• Understanding of commissioning and turnover sequencing
• Familiarity with OEM systems (Starline, Vertiv, Schneider, Eaton, etc.)
• Design-assist experience
• BS in Business, Construction Management, or related field — a plus
• Journeyman-level electrical license or equivalent — a plus
• Accubid or McCormick experience — required
• Competitive salary and performance bonus • Paid time off
• 401(k) retirement plan with company match
• Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
• First-time homebuyer program (if applicable)
• Collaborative, high-energy workplace
