What does a Remote Quantitative Developer Intern do?

A Remote Quantitative Developer Intern works with quantitative analysts and software engineers to design, develop, and implement algorithms and tools used for financial modeling and data analysis, often in the finance or trading industry. They typically use programming languages like Python, C++, or Java to build and test quantitative models remotely. Their work helps organizations make data-driven decisions, optimize trading strategies, and manage risk. As an intern, they also gain exposure to advanced mathematical concepts, financial markets, and collaborative software development processes.

Is 30 too late to become a quant?

Becoming a quantitative developer at any age, including 30, is possible with strong skills in mathematics, programming, and finance. Many professionals transition into quant roles after gaining experience in related fields or acquiring relevant certifications like CFA or advanced degrees. Age is less important than technical ability and continuous learning in this field.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote Quantitative Developer Interns, and how can they overcome them?

Remote Quantitative Developer Interns often face challenges such as effective communication with distributed teams, managing time across different time zones, and accessing necessary data or systems securely. To overcome these challenges, it's important to proactively schedule regular check-ins with mentors, make use of collaborative tools like version control and project management platforms, and clarify expectations early on. Additionally, documenting your work and seeking feedback can help ensure alignment and smooth progress throughout the internship.

How much do quant interns make?

Quantitative developer interns typically earn between $20 and $40 per hour, with annualized salaries ranging from approximately $40,000 to $80,000 depending on location, firm size, and experience. Compensation may also include benefits and opportunities for performance-based bonuses, especially in finance or tech environments that value strong programming and analytical skills.

Does JP Morgan hire quants?

JP Morgan hires quantitative analysts and developers, often referred to as quants, for roles in risk management, trading, and financial modeling. These positions typically require strong skills in mathematics, programming, and data analysis, and may involve working with tools like Python, C++, or MATLAB. Internships and entry-level roles are also available for aspiring quants.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Quantitative Developer Intern, and why are they important?

A Remote Quantitative Developer Intern should have strong programming skills (such as Python or C++), a solid foundation in mathematics or statistics, and be working toward a relevant degree like computer science, engineering, or applied math. Familiarity with quantitative libraries, version control systems (like Git), and data analysis tools is typically expected. Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills, especially for remote collaboration. These skills ensure interns can efficiently contribute to quantitative research and development projects, adapt to fast-paced environments, and communicate findings clearly within distributed teams.

Job description

Senior Manager, Product Management (Digital Experience) - Capital One Software (Remote)

Ever since our first credit card customer in 1994, Capital One has recognized that technology and data can enable even large companies to be innovative and personalized. As one of the first large enterprises to go all-in on the public cloud, Capital One needed to build cloud and data management tools that didn't exist in the marketplace to enable us to operate at scale in the cloud. Through this journey, we've developed a suite of internal solutions uniquely designed to meet the challenges of a digital-first, cloud-first business at scale. We also recognize that many other businesses are facing similar data management needs as they accelerate their cloud and data journeys, and are exploring how best to bring some of the tools to market as enterprise B2B software solutions. And in 2022, we publicly announced Capital One Software and brought our first B2B software solution, Slingshot, to market, followed by Databolt in 2025.

About the Team:

Capital One Software is redefining how enterprises engage with our data and cloud solutions. As the Senior Manager, Product Management for our enterprise website, you'll be instrumental in shaping the multi-year roadmap, prioritizing major features based on strategic business goals, and owning the overall Return on Investment (ROI) for the website as a digital product.

You will act as the voice of the external user while managing a team dedicated to continuous improvement of website performance, and the development and optimization of future digital experiences. Your core mandate is to champion a seamless digital experience that spans the entire customer lifecycle, from the buyer's journey (lead generation) through to the customer journey (advocacy).

We seek a leader who thrives on collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and a culture of continuous experimentation. If you are an innovative product leader ready to own a strategic B2B digital platform and drive significant business impact, we encourage you to apply.

The Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is a visionary product leader and digital orchestrator who thrives at the intersection of technical architecture, user experience, and enterprise go-to-market strategy. You do not just manage a website; you treat the Capital One Software digital experience as a core product. You possess the unique ability to navigate complex, highly regulated backend systems while designing frictionless, front-end user journeys. By balancing deep technical fluency with relentless customer empathy, you will transform how customers discover, evaluate, and adopt our data management solutions, ultimately turning users into vocal advocates for the Capital One Software brand.

What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities):

  • Drive Digital Vision & Roadmap: Own the strategic vision and product roadmap for the enterprise website. You will align digital initiatives with overarching business goals, ensuring the website acts as a primary engine for domain authority, lead generation, and customer success.

  • Architect End-to-End Journeys: Map and build cohesive, frictionless digital customer experiences. You will integrate complex backend systems, marketing technology (MarTech), and internal processes to ensure users move seamlessly from educational discovery to product evaluation and post-purchase success.

  • Lead Cross-Functional Execution: Act as the connective tissue across the Go-To-Market engine. You will foster deep alignment between Product Marketing, Marketing Operations, UX Design, Content Strategy, Engineering, MarTech, and Sales Ops to break down silos and orchestrate unified experiences and campaigns.

  • Champion Usability & Design: Guide the UX/UI strategy to ensure the digital experience meets the expectations of executives and advanced technical buyers. You will enforce high standards for human-centric design, scannability, and accessibility.

  • Navigate a Highly Regulated Environment: Leverage your technical acumen to innovate safely. You will design digital experiences and data-capture processes that strictly adhere to enterprise security, privacy, and compliance standards without sacrificing user utility

  • Cultivate Brand Advocates: Focus relentlessly on user value. By ensuring our digital presence clearly communicates our technical depth and solves real user pain points, you will build trust and foster long-term advocacy for Capital One Software.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in quantitative field (such as Engineering, CS, Economics) or MBA with quantitative focus

  • At least 7 years of experience working in Product Management focused on digital products

  • At least 5 years of experience in the management or mentorship of product managers or product teams

  • At least 5 years of experience driving measurable results related to digital platforms, such as lead generation, conversion rates, and customer adoption.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading enterprise SaaS or B2B website products at scale.

  • Expert-level knowledge of the entire B2B Customer Lifecycle, including strategies for acquisition, retention, and advocacy.

  • Deep understanding of CMS and martech platforms (e.g., Adobe, Contentful, Optimizely, Marketo).

  • Experience with SalesTech stacks (e.g., Salesforce).

  • Familiarity with web performance, security, SEO, AI, and content governance best practices.

  • Strong grasp of demand generation funnels, lead scoring, and user behavior analytics.

  • Certification in an Agile framework (e.g. Scrum Product Owner).
