Job description

Resource Innovations is seeking a Sr. Qualitative Research & Evaluation Team Lead to join our growing team in Louisville, Colorado (USA), or Toronto, Ontario (Canada); however, other locations in the United States will be considered. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sr. Team Lead with a strong background in Demand Side Management program process evaluation to join our dynamic team. As an Sr. Qualitative Research & Evaluation Team Lead with Resource Innovations, you will be responsible for providing technical oversight and project management, as well as business development and team development for the Advisory Services business unit, working on energy efficiency (EE), demand response (DR), and distributed energy resource (DER) program analysis and measurement.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of qualitative energy program evaluation process evaluation and research professionals that focus on process evaluation and market characterization studies.
  • Fully lead and manage qualitative evaluation and research projects from concept to implementation, including the development of plans, budgets, deliverables, and presentations
  • Coordinate, as needed, with quantitative-focused staff and teams
  • Organize, lead and participate in client and stakeholder meetings
  • Actively seek new opportunities for growing/expanding work with existing clients
  • Identify and develop business with new clients, including lead generation and supporting proposal development
  • Oversee data collection efforts including customer and market actor surveys, in-depth interviews, and focus groups
  • Oversee the development of required data collection instruments, sampling strategies, outreach tactics, as well as subsequent data analysis and reporting.
  • Provide mentorship and subject matter expertise to junior and mid-level staff on qualitative research methods; conduct quality check of results and deliverables
  • Lead and support technical report writing; contribute to draft reports, including results and actionable recommendations.
  • Communicate with clients in a timely manner and exhibit sound consulting business practices (timely delivery, managing to budget, margins, invoicing, aging)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (i.e. Social and Environmental Sciences, Public Policy, or Economics with a quantitative focus).
  • At least 5 years of experience with evaluation of Demand-Side Management (DSM) programs.
  • Subject matter expert on energy program-specific qualitative evaluation and research methodologies
  • Expert level understanding and knowledge of energy programs and energy program evaluation
  • Demonstrated experience being the primary point of contact for client projects
  • Excellent writing, communication, and computer skills are mandatory.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities
  • Ability to build relationships with clients and work in tandem to solve logistical and technical issues.
  • Experience with net-to-gross evaluation and program attribution surveys or research highly preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in a related field, or higher.
  • 10+ years of experience with evaluation of Demand-Side Management (DSM) programs.
  • Demonstrated experience as a qualitative energy consultant
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams

Compensation & Benefits

Resource Innovations offers competitive salaries based on a candidate's skills, experience and qualifications for the position. The compensation range for the base salary for this position is $103,000 - 174,000. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus. The stated salary represents the expected compensation for this position. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's experience, education and location.
