Global Impact Group LLC is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and ISO 9001 / ISO 17100 certified provider of interpretation and translation services. We provide secure, high-quality language access in 80+ spoken and signed languages for USCIS and other federal agencies.
We are seeking Krio Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Krio, an English-based Creole language widely spoken in Sierra Leone and by diaspora communities, is a rare but important language frequently required in asylum and immigration cases.
Responsibilities
  • Provide real-time Krio ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and asylum proceedings.
  • Deliver interpretation with accuracy, neutrality, and professionalism in immigration and legal contexts.
  • Maintain confidentiality in line with USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
  • Support both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge requests.
  • Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.
Qualifications
  • Native or near-native fluency in Krio and English.
  • 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, community, or NGO/government preferred).
  • Familiarity with interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness.
  • Strong telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
