Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled QA Automation Engineer to design, develop, and maintain automated testing solutions that validate the functionality, performance, and security of our software applications. This is primarily a remote role though there might be times when you would have to travel to a client locations in the DMV area. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for shifting manual testing efforts into efficient, scalable automated test suites built into our deployment pipeline. You will collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and fellow QA team members to ensure bugs are caught early and high-quality software is delivered seamlessly to our users.

Responsibilities

· Design and write maintainable automated test scripts for web applications and backend APIs.

· Build and scale robust automation frameworks using tools like Playwright / Selenium / other to increase code coverage.

· Analyze requirements and user stories to create detailed, structured end-to-end test plans.

· Execute regression, functional, and smoke tests prior to major production releases.

· Identify, log, and track software defects in issue tracking systems, detailing reproduction steps and severity.

· Isolate and troubleshoot test failures to determine if issues stem from application bugs or test script instability.

· Collaborate in Agile development ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Technical Skills

· Programming Proficiency: Strong coding skills in at least one major language (Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript), with ability to leverage AI-assisted development tools

· Automation Tooling: Hands-on experience with automated testing tools like (Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or Cucumber).

· Testing Frameworks: Hands-on experience with pytest, Jest, JUnit, TestNG, or similar

· API Testing: Proven experience testing RESTful APIs using tools like (Postman, RestAssured, or Bruno).

· Database Management: Ability to write basic to intermediate SQL queries to verify data persistence and consistency.

· Version Control: Solid mastery of Git command-line interfaces and code branching workflows.

· QA Methodologies: Deep understanding of software verification principles, the STLC (Software Testing Life Cycle), and test case optimization.

· CI/CD Integration: Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps)

· Container Apps: Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

· Cloud knowledge: Hands on experience with one of the major clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI)

· Performance Testing: Hands on experience with performance testing tools like K6, JMeter, Gatling etc.

· Security Testing: Experience with security testing of applications.

Qualifications

· 4 years of experience with QA experience

· Experience with automation

· Experience coding with any of the following, but not limited to: Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL

· Experience with back-end, front-end, and API testing

Nice to have

· A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)

· Analytical Thinker: Sharp problem-solving abilities to identify edge cases and hidden vulnerabilities.

· Detail Oriented: A meticulous eye for identifying behavioral regressions and UI anomalies.

Clearance

· An active TS/SCI is required with the ability to obtain polygraph
