Job description

Job Description: Lead Solutions Architect

Constellation is seeking a Lead Solutions Architect to provide end-to-end ownership of technical product delivery across automation and full-stack development initiatives. This role is responsible for guiding solution architecture, directing engineering workstreams, and ensuring technical solutions align with client mission needs and program objectives. The Lead Solutions Architect works closely with developers and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions, oversee execution across Python-based automation, data and ETL processes, and web-based applications, and drive informed decision-making throughout the delivery lifecycle. This position serves as the primary technical authority in client engagements, providing clear direction, presenting solutions, and ensuring delivery quality, performance, and accountability across teams.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Technical Leadership: Provide architectural oversight and technical direction across teams developing Python-based automation and full-stack applications (React, Spring Boot). Validate engineering approaches, enforce best practices, and ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
  • Solution Architecture: Translate complex client requirements into clear, actionable technical designs. Lead solutioning sessions and define system architecture and automated processes in collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Client Engagement: Serve as the primary technical interface for stakeholders. Present solutions, guide decision-making, and manage trade-offs to ensure alignment with mission and program objectives.
  • Delivery Oversight: Oversee execution across technical workstreams, managing priorities, risks, and escalations. Proactively identify and resolve technical challenges early to maintain delivery timelines and quality.
The ideal candidate must have the following experience, background, and credentials:
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, technical delivery, or solution architecture.
  • Strong technical background in Python-based scripting and/or full-stack development (React, Spring Boot, or similar).
  • Proven experience leading system architecture and delivering scalable, cloud-based (AWS/Azure) solutions.
  • Experience overseeing cross-functional engineering teams (backend, frontend, data).
  • Strong client-facing skills, including presenting technical solutions and driving decision-making.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to pass a background investigation by the client agency. DHS clearance with CBP/ICE, or DoD Top-Secret is preferred.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience leading teams building data/automation pipelines or ETL workflows.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices (CI/CD, containerization, cloud deployment).
  • Experience in supporting federal programs or working in regulated environments.
  • Background in product ownership or technical product management.
