Job description

About NetLaw

NetLaw is a tech-enabled estate planning platform serving wealth management firms through an MSO structure. We power the estate planning services of an affiliated law firm, Hargrove Firm, with attorneys across 50 states delivering estate plans for the $1-50M wealth segment. We've grown 210% in the past year, are backed by institutional capital, and count multiple top 10 wealth management firms among our partners.
About the Role

We're looking for a Document Automation Specialist to join our team of document automation experts working on NetLaw's legal product. In this role, you'll build and maintain automated legal document templates - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other estate planning instruments - using conditional logic to transform complex legal language into intelligent, dynamic documents.

This is meticulous, high-stakes work. The documents you automate are legally binding instruments that protect families and their legacies. A misplaced clause, a broken condition, or an incorrect variable isn't a minor bug - it's a real-world consequence. You'll thrive here if you find deep satisfaction in getting every detail exactly right.

What You'll Do

  • Build, test, and maintain automated document templates using conditional logic to handle complex legal scenarios and jurisdiction-specific variations
  • Translate attorney-drafted legal language and specifications into dynamic, logic-driven templates
  • Use conditional logic to structure, style, and script document templates and related automation workflows
  • Rigorously test document outputs across a wide range of input combinations to verify that every conditional path produces accurate, compliant documents
  • Collaborate with attorneys, product managers, and engineers to clarify requirements - and proactively ask questions when specifications are ambiguous or incomplete
  • Document your work clearly so templates remain maintainable as the product evolves
  • Continuously learn new tools, automation platforms, and estate planning concepts as our product grows

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 2-4 years of hands-on experience in legal document automation - building templates with conditional logic in platforms such as Contract Express, HotDocs, Gavel, or similar
  • Working proficiency with HTML and JavaScript
  • Experience working with legal documents and legal language, with a strong grasp of why precision matters in a highly regulated field
  • Exceptional attention to detail - you catch the inconsistency in paragraph 47 that everyone else missed
  • Ability to work independently, manage your own workload, and deliver reliably in a remote environment
  • A fast learner's mindset: comfortable picking up new tools, concepts, and legal subject matter quickly
  • Strong communication skills and the judgment to ask clarifying questions early rather than guessing when something is confusing or underspecified

Preferred

  • Exposure to estate planning documents and concepts - wills, revocable trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and related instruments
  • Background as a paralegal, legal assistant, or legal technologist

Who Thrives Here

You're the kind of person who reads the fine print - and enjoys it. You take ownership of your work, hold yourself to a high standard of accuracy, and understand that in legal technology, "close enough" is never good enough. You're self-directed but not siloed: you know when to push through a problem on your own and when to raise your hand and ask. You're excited by the intersection of law and technology, and you want your work to have real impact on real families.

Why NetLaw

  • Fully remote - work from anywhere in the U.S.
  • Meaningful work - the documents you build help families protect what matters most
  • A specialized, expert team - join colleagues who share your obsession with quality and your passion for legal technology
  • Growth - deepen your expertise in one of the most sophisticated document automation environments in legal tech

NetLaw is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
