Job description

Genesis10 is seeking a BigID Engineer. This is a 7-month contract position with a client located in Brooklyn, OH. This position is on-site in Brooklyn, OH, but remote work will also be considered.
Compensation: $65.00/HR W2
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated BigID Engineer with hands-on experience in developing and implementing solutions using BigID, along with strong foundational knowledge of cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The ideal candidate will work on data discovery, classification, and privacy initiatives, contributing to our data governance and compliance strategy.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain BigID integrations with enterprise systems (databases, cloud storage, data warehouses, APIs) for automated discovery and classification of sensitive data.
  • Customize BigID data discovery policies, classifiers, and connectors to meet regulatory, privacy, and security requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
  • Implement and optimize data discovery workflows using BigID's configuration tools, APIs, and scripting capabilities for scalability and performance.
  • Develop and manage custom metadata enrichment rules to improve data context, tagging, and governance.
  • Work closely with data governance, privacy, and security teams to align BigID solutions with business compliance frameworks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to BigID platform performance, data ingestion, classification accuracy, and connector reliability.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation for BigID configurations, custom scripts, and integration patterns.
  • Lead code reviews and mentor junior team members on BigID best practices, scripting, and API usage.
  • Collaborate with BigID product support and vendor teams to escalate and resolve platform-level issues or request feature enhancements.
  • Stay updated with BigID platform updates and emerging data privacy regulations, applying changes to maintain compliance and technical efficiency.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent
  • Proven experience with BigID platform (development, configuration, deployment).
  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies - primarily GCP and AWS.
  • Knowledge of data classification, data governance, and privacy frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Hands-on experience with data connectors, APIs, and cloud storage integrations.
  • Familiarity with cloud basics, including IAM, networking, and storage fundamentals.
  • Ability to work in an agile environment with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • BigID Certification (extra credit).
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Shell.
  • Prior experience working in data privacy or security-focused projects.
