What is a remote pump jack service technician?

Remote pump jack service jobs involve monitoring, maintaining, and repairing pump jacks—mechanical devices used to extract oil from wells—using technology that allows for remote oversight and control. Technicians in these roles utilize sensors, automation systems, and digital platforms to track pump performance, diagnose issues, and coordinate on-site repairs when necessary. This approach reduces the need for frequent field visits, improves efficiency, and enhances safety by allowing problems to be identified and addressed promptly from a distance.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote pump jack service technician?

To excel as a Remote Pump Jack Service technician, you need a solid understanding of mechanical systems, troubleshooting skills, and experience in oilfield equipment maintenance, often supported by relevant technical training or certification. Familiarity with remote monitoring systems, SCADA software, and basic electrical tools is typically required for effective fieldwork. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication are essential soft skills for this role. These competencies ensure safe, efficient operation and maintenance of pump jacks, reducing downtime and supporting overall production goals.

What are common challenges faced by remote pump jack service technicians, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Pump Jack Service technicians often encounter challenges such as troubleshooting equipment malfunctions without immediate on-site support, navigating communication barriers with field teams, and adapting to a variety of remote monitoring technologies. Staying up to date with the latest diagnostic tools and maintaining clear, proactive communication with on-site personnel can help overcome these obstacles. Additionally, continuous training and leveraging remote collaboration platforms are key to efficiently resolving technical issues and ensuring reliable pump jack operation.

Our client is a rapidly growing transportation company operating both asset-based and brokerage divisions with a unique specialization in high-value, high-security transportation.

The company expects to generate approximately $40–50 million in combined revenue this year, with brokerage revenue growing from approximately $11–12 million last year to an anticipated $20–25 million this year.

Unlike traditional brokerages competing strictly on price, the company has intentionally built a niche around freight requiring exceptional service, security, and specialized handling.

Their customer base includes:

  • Data Centers
  • Technology Companies
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Government
  • Freight Forwarders
  • Manufacturing
  • Consumer Products
  • Anheuser-Busch
  • USPS

The company also provides value-added services including:

  • White Glove Delivery
  • Final Mile
  • Liftgate Service
  • Pallet Jack Service
  • Debris Removal
  • Shrink Wrapping
  • Specialized Straight Truck Solutions

This is not a commodity brokerage. It's a specialized logistics provider focused on premium service and high-value freight.

Position Summary

We are seeking a proven Senior Logistics Sales Executive to accelerate the growth of its brokerage division.

This individual will focus on developing strategic customer relationships within industries where the company's specialized capabilities create a competitive advantage, particularly:

  • Data Centers
  • Technology
  • High-Value Freight
  • Government

  • Freight Forwarding

The ideal candidate understands consultative selling and can leverage the company's unique combination of brokerage services, asset capacity, and white glove capabilities to win profitable business.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop new brokerage business nationwide
  • Prospect strategic shippers and freight forwarders
  • Sell specialized transportation solutions
  • Build long-term executive relationships
  • Work closely with leadership to help shape the future sales organization
  • Collaborate with operations to ensure flawless execution

Ideal Candidate

Required

  • 5+ years of freight brokerage sales experience
  • Strong hunter mentality
  • Demonstrated new business success
  • Experience selling truckload transportation
  • Executive-level communication skills
  • Self-starter who requires minimal management

Highly Preferred

Experience selling into one or more of:

  • Data Centers
  • Technology
  • High-Value Logistics
  • White Glove Transportation
  • Government Logistics
  • Pharmaceutical Transportation
  • Freight Forwarding

Candidates with relationships in these verticals will receive strong consideration.

Why Someone Would Join

A Specialized Brokerage

Rather than trying to be everything to everyone, the company is intentionally building expertise in niche transportation markets where service and security matter more than price.

Asset-Based Advantage

The company operates both brokerage and asset operations.

The asset fleet provides additional credibility with prospective customers while giving sales professionals another solution to offer clients when appropriate. All company assets are dry van equipment.

Technology Without Losing the Human Element

Leadership believes technology should make employees more productive—not replace relationships.

The company is actively developing proprietary in-house technology to eliminate redundant work while preserving the personalized customer service that differentiates the business.

Accessible Leadership

Sales professionals report directly to experienced leaders who pride themselves on being approachable, responsive, and committed to helping employees succeed.

The culture emphasizes collaboration, trust, and solving problems quickly—without unnecessary bureaucracy.

Opportunity to Build Something

This is more than another sales role.

The successful candidate will be one of the company's first dedicated outside sales professionals. Leadership is looking for an individual contributor who wants to roll up their sleeves, build meaningful revenue, and potentially help build and lead a larger sales organization in the future.
