This role has end-to-end accountability for U.S. federal, state, and international tax matters, including income tax accounting under ASC 740, compliance, audit defense, and tax risk management.The role serves as the Company’s primary tax subject-matter expert and strategic advisor, partnering closely with Finance, Engineering, Operations, and executive leadership. It acts as the central point of coordination with the Swire London Tax Director and external tax advisors, while also collaborating with other U.S.-based Swire-owned businesses, including Swire Coca-Cola.Candidates for this position may be required to pass pre-employment and periodic screenings, including background checks, drug and alcohol tests, or other necessary assessments.Some of the work you will do:U.S. Income Tax (Compliance & Planning)
  • Own and oversee preparation of U.S. federal, state, and Canadian income tax returns.
  • Monitor tax law changes and communicate impacts to leadership.
  • Support income tax planning and effective tax rate management.
Income Tax Accounting & ASC 740
  • Own all income tax accounting under ASC 740, including quarterly and annual provisions.
  • Prepare current and deferred tax calculations and disclosures.
  • Support audits and internal controls related to income taxes.
Property Tax & Sales/Use Tax Oversight
  • Oversee property tax and sales/use tax compliance.
  • Coordinate filings, accruals, and audit support.
  • Drive process and control improvements.
External Advisor Management & Cost Control
  • Act as primary contact for external tax advisors.
  • Manage scopes, deliverables, performance, and fees.
  • Reduce reliance on reactive advisory support.
R&D Tax Credits & Engineering Collaboration
  • Identify and evaluate qualifying R&D activities.
  • Partner with engineering to document credits.
  • Own preparation and substantiation of R&D credits.
Technical Tax (Manufacturing & Project-Based Tax)
  • Support UNICAP and percentage-of-completion tax matters.
  • Prepare technical tax memoranda and position papers.
Audit Support & Tax Risk Management
  • Lead tax audits and respond to notices.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation.
  • Partner with Finance and Internal Audit on risk mitigation.
Here are the skills you need:Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
Experience
  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive tax experience, with increasing scope and responsibility.
  • Demonstrated expertise in ASC 740, including endtoend preparation and review of income tax provisions and related disclosures.
  • Experience with R&D tax credits preferred, including identification, documentation, and coordination with external advisors.
