What is a remote property manager?

A remote property manager is a professional who oversees and manages real estate properties from a location other than the property itself, often working from home or a central office. Their responsibilities typically include coordinating maintenance and repairs, handling tenant communications, processing rent payments, and ensuring compliance with property regulations. They use digital tools and platforms to perform their duties efficiently without being physically present at the property. This role is especially common for managing multiple properties or properties located in different regions.

What does a remote property manager do?

As a remote property manager, you handle the day-to-day management of a rental property from a remote or virtual location. Your responsibilities typically include explaining lease terms to a new tenant, coordinating any maintenance of the buildings and grounds, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as necessary. You also oversee tax requirements as necessary. You are essentially a landlord with all of the associated duties but are home-based. You may work with a real estate agent to find renters for a site, or you have more than one client and manage several properties.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote property manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Property Manager, you need a solid understanding of property management practices, leasing regulations, and financial oversight, usually supported by relevant experience or a real estate/property management certification. Familiarity with property management software (such as AppFolio or Buildium), virtual communication tools, and digital document management systems is essential. Outstanding organizational skills, proactive communication, and problem-solving abilities are crucial soft skills for managing tenants and coordinating with contractors remotely. These skills and qualities are important to ensure efficient operations, tenant satisfaction, and effective oversight of properties from a distance.

How does a remote property manager effectively handle maintenance issues without being on-site?

As a Remote Property Manager, handling maintenance issues requires strong communication and reliable local partnerships. You’ll typically coordinate with trusted vendors or contractors in the property's area, leveraging digital tools to receive photos, updates, and invoices. Clear protocols and responsive communication with both tenants and service providers are essential for timely resolutions. Building a network of reliable local contacts and using property management software can streamline the entire process, ensuring issues are addressed efficiently even from a distance.

Job description

About Onboard
Onboard by Conservice is a tech-enabled bulk internet management service built for
multifamily and single-family rental property owners. We manage the complete internet
program lifecycle, from ISP contracting through resident enrollment, property
management system (PMS) integration, and post-launch handoff, enabling property
owners to deliver premium connectivity amenities without the operational complexity.

The Role
In this role, you will act as a project manager and delivery owner of bulk internet
service implementations. You will serve as a trusted connectivity advisor to property
owners, executive stakeholders, and site teams. You will leverage administrative
support, ISP partner management, and cross-functional collaboration to drive project
timelines, enforce scope boundaries, and ensure successful go-live launches.

Location: United States (Remote / WFH, with infrequent travel)
Reports To: Implementation Team Lead / Director of Professional Services

Core Objectives & Responsibilities

  • Project Ownership: Manage multiple concurrent property implementations from
contract execution through property management system (PMS) integration,
resident communications, go-live, and Account Management handoff.
  • Time-to-Market Optimization: Drive internal and external stakeholders to
compress contract-to-go-live cycles, maintaining focus on predictable go-live dates
that unlock property revenue and program value.
  • Task Execution & Delegation: Own the execution of backend administrative tasks
through a mix of self-performance and delegation to administrative support staff,
auditing admin output, verifying task completion, and remaining fully accountable
    for project quality and outcomes.
  • Client Leadership & Scope Protection: Serve as the authoritative internet
connectivity advisor for property leadership. Drive direct, outcome-focused client
communications, set clear operational boundaries, and firmly prevent scope creep or
    unapproved custom requests.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner seamlessly with internal departments,
including Sales/Solution Consulting, Internet Provider Relations, Resident Marketing,
    and Account Management.
  • Data Integrity & Oversight: Ensure 100% accuracy between account records,
property level contracts, provider contracts, Salesforce records, and internal admin
systems to achieve clean financial audits prior to project handoff.
  • KPI Excellence: Consistently meet or exceed core team performance metrics, including Time-to-Launch, Go-Live Date Reliability, Post-Go-Live Handoff Speed, Onboarding CSAT, and Communication SLAs.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary and performance-based bonus
  • Health, dental, vision, and HSA
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Basic life & AD&D coverage
  • PTO in accordance with the company's current PTO plan
  • Holiday pay in accordance with the company's current paid holiday schedule

Ideal Qualifications

  • 2+ years of project management, customer success, or professional services
  • experience in Telecommunications (internet connectivity), Property Management,
    or PropTech.
  • Proven track record of managing high-volume, concurrent project pipelines without
    sacrificing quality or stakeholder alignment.
  • Demonstrated ability to speak with authority, negotiate skillfully, push back
tactfully against demanding client requests, and manage conflict calmly.
  • Proficiency with project workflows, Salesforce CRM, AI workflow automation, and
data analysis using spreadsheets (Excel/CSV charge reconciliation).
  • Exceptional organizational and professional communication skills.
  • Personal attributes: Highly motivated, proactive, driven, results-oriented, agile,
    empathic, and curious.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with Bulk Internet Contracts or Property Management Systems
(PMS) such as Yardi, RealPage, AppFolio, or Entrata.
  • Travel: Infrequent domestic travel (5-10%) may be required for team offsites, key
    client engagements, or industry events.
