Communications Assistant

Top-Level Summary

Planet Reimagined is seeking an organized, proactive, and collaborative part-time, 1099 Contractor to step into the role of Communications Assistant. This position is designed for someone who thrives on the operational and tactical aspects of digital communications. If you are a natural problem solver who enjoys building systems from the ground up to drive real-world climate impact, we would love to meet you.

About Planet Reimagined

Founded by a multi-platinum musician and a UN advocate, Planet Reimagined was built on the belief that big change happens when people act together and when that action drives shifts in policy and industry. On a mission to deliver fair solutions for people and the planet, we use an innovative action research method to incubate and scale creative solutions to our most pressing climate problems. We mobilize fans at concerts to take real-time civic action, and we help renewable energy companies access public lands once closed to them. From legislative wins to global campaigns, we turn bold ideas into action. And we're just getting started.

About the Role

As Planet Reimagined continues to scale its global campaigns and research initiatives, our digital footprint is expanding rapidly. The Communications Assistant is a part-time position designed to provide critical operational backbone to our digital outreach. We are seeking a process-oriented, tech-savvy, and driven individual to manage our digital assets, support content workflows, and track performance analytics. This role is ideal for someone looking to sharpen their digital marketing skills while contributing directly to a high-impact climate advocacy organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

Working closely with the communications team and broader organizational staff, the Communications
Assistant will:

  • Manage Digital Analytics: Track, analyze, and report on the performance of our primary digital pillars, including our website, social media channels, and email newsletters, in alignment with our overarching growth strategy.
  • Serve as Digital Asset Specialist: Organize, maintain, and optimize internal systems for managing digital files, media kits, and brand communications assets to ensure seamless team access.
  • Support Content Workflows: Assist in the creation, formatting, and scheduling of engaging content for social media channels and external newsletters.
  • Maintain Website Infrastructure: Support routine website management updates, layout tweaks, and content refreshes to ensure our digital presence is accurate and engaging.
Required Skills and Experience
  • 1+ years of experience in digital communications, marketing, copywriting, or a closely related field.
  • Adaptable, tech-savvy, and highly organized, with an eagerness to master new tools and systems in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Hands-on experience executing email campaigns (Mailchimp highly preferred) and pulling digital metrics (Google Analytics preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the initiative to troubleshoot tech tools and explore creative digital layouts.
  • Excellent written communication, proofreading, and detail-oriented formatting skills.
Desired Skills
  • Passion for climate action, environmental sustainability, and/or grassroots advocacy.
  • Background working within nonprofit organizations or purpose-driven campaigns.
  • Basic technical familiarity with CSS, front-end editing, or web management within the Squarespace platform.
  • Ability to contribute toward a healthy and collaborative work culture committed to shared purpose, clear communication, and collective impact.
Details
  • Status: Part-Time (approx. 10–20 hours per week), 1099 Contractor position.
  • Location: Fully remote, but must have functional overlap with US EST working hours.
  • Compensation: $20-25/hr for US-based contractors. We take a location-aware approach to contractor compensation to ensure fairness and competitiveness across local markets.
  • For candidates based outside the U.S., we benchmark compensation to local nonprofit and philanthropy markets. Illustrative equivalents for comparable roles include approximately £12.00 – £16.00/hr in the UK, COP 27,500–41,300/hr in Colombia, and ₹560–₹950/hr in India.
  • Final hourly rates will consider factors such as the candidate's specific location, cost of living, and experience level.
