About the Opportunity

ControlPoint Technologies is seeking a Lead Substation Engineer to provide project leadership within our Substation Engineering team.

Candidates must have direct experience with substation projects for electric utilities. The projects will range from 4kV to 345kV and the candidate will be client facing and interface with the other disciplines. Project Management skills and ability to meet critical deadlines are required. Must be an outgoing team player with the ability to provide client confidence.

Technical Responsibilities:
  • Substation General Arrangement
  • Control House Layout
  • Plans and Sections
  • Grounding
  • Lightning Protection
  • Conduit/trench Layout
  • Material List
  • Construction Specifications
  • Prepare calculations for studies and reports (grounding, lightning protection, voltage drop, AC/DC load studies, etc.)
  • Support/coordinate engineering and design related to Civil/Structural aspects of the designs
  • Coordination with Protection Control
Engineering Responsibilities:
  • Project Engineering Lead
  • Provide guidance and mentorship within engineering and design team
  • Perform quality control/assurance reviews
  • Project support from scoping to final design and project closeout
  • Construction Support
  • Strong client focus and customer service
  • Excellent communication skills
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor'sDegree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineering Licensure (PE) is required, will accept candidates with Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) on path to Professional Engineering licensure.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in electric utility industry
  • Experience in utility substation engineering with focus on electrical or physical aspects of design
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is a plus
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
