Job description

Project Manager – Major Institutional Construction Project

Grey-Bruce Region | Southwestern Ontario | Hybrid/Remote Flexibility

An established Ontario general contractor has recently secured a major institutional construction project in the Grey-Bruce region and is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the build.

The approximately 128,600 sq. ft. ground-up project will include modern learning environments, specialized technical shop spaces and extensive coordination among the client, consultants, architects, subcontractors and other project stakeholders.

This is a high-profile leadership opportunity for a Senior Project Manager who wants to take genuine ownership of a meaningful community project—not simply manage the paperwork around it.

The Opportunity

As Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for the overall successful delivery of the project, including:

  • Leading the project from preconstruction and mobilization through closeout
  • Managing the project schedule, budget, contracts and financial performance
  • Overseeing subcontractor procurement, coordination and performance
  • Working closely with the site team, consultants, architects and client representatives
  • Identifying and resolving project risks, design issues and construction challenges
  • Managing change orders, documentation, reporting and contractual requirements
  • Maintaining strong communication across all project stakeholders
  • Ensuring the project is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards
  • Providing leadership and accountability to the broader project team

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Significant experience managing large, ground-up ICI construction projects
  • Previous experience with institutional, education, healthcare or public-sector construction
  • A strong understanding of project schedules, budgets, contracts and trade coordination
  • Demonstrated success managing complex stakeholder and consultant relationships
  • The ability to lead project teams and make confident, timely decisions
  • Strong commercial, contractual and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent communication, organization and leadership skills
  • Experience working with an established general contractor in the Ontario construction market

A construction-related degree, diploma or professional designation would be considered an asset.

Location and Work Structure

The contractor may offer flexibility in how the position is structured. Options may include:

  • Site-based in the Grey-Bruce region
  • Hybrid or office-based in Southwestern Ontario
  • Fully remote in Ontario

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to lead a substantial, ground-up institutional project that will serve the surrounding community for years to come.

The contractor is looking for a Senior Project Manager with the experience, confidence and leadership ability to take full ownership of the project and guide it successfully from start to finish.
