Job description

Company Overview:
Onsite Engineering is a mid-sized consulting engineering and geoscience company with multiple
off ices across BC. We are a diverse company that provides high quality engineering and
geoscience services to government, industry and land-owners. We have purposely built our
company to allow our senior professionals to do what they do best - top notch technical work. We
understand that, as professionals in the engineering fi eld, the work we do builds the places we live,
work, and play for generations and we are proud to play our part.
Position Overview:
Reporting directly to the Courtenay Manager, the successful Engineer in Training to Intermediate
P.Eng. will primarily be involved in construction related geotechnical engineering at a remote mine
site in Northern BC. This camp-based position is a critical role in the construction of a new access
road within the remote location, and will include overseeing day-to-day construction activities,
coordination with contractors, subcontractors, site and other engineers, monitoring progress and
providing both technical and quality management. Camp shifts are typically 2 weeks on, 2 weeks
off. This position's office location is flexible.
While the construction project is seasonal, this is a permanent full-time position. During off-season
months, the role will include general engineering services from proposal stage through to survey,
assessment, design and construction of projects. Projects may vary from resource sector road and
crossing survey and design to geotechnical assessments to support resource development and
construction.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity for professional development working with a
motivated and dynamic team of experienced professionals. Fieldwork is an integral part of this
position, and applicants must be prepared for fi eld work including camp shifts, northern climates
and hiking in to remote sites in all conditions.
Major Job Functions:
Construction-related field engineering tasks including:
Site supervision and coordination
Technical support
Quality Control and Compliance
Reporting and Documentation
Communication
Consultant engineering services, including:
Site investigations, geotechnical drilling and/or test pitting
Report preparation
Geotechnical design
Coordinating project drawings and reports
Completing field reviews during construction
Assisting with project management and/or contract administration
Specific Skills and Knowledge:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build positive
relationships across all levels of the business.
Strong technical analysis and technical writing capabilities
Physically fit and comfortable with outdoor work and in camp

Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to work on numerous
projects
Willingness to learn and work with limited supervision
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree Geological, Civil or related field of Engineering
Eligible for registration with EGBC as an EIT
Experience working in a remote mine site an asset
Minimum 4 years of experience
Work Location and Site Conditions:
Remote Camp setting with private accommodations
Camp Accommodations include meals, gym, recreation and entertainment facilities
Travel Arrangements provided from Courtenay Airport
FIFO Schedule: 14 days on / 14 days off based on 12 -hour days

Salary Range:
1st Year EIT (E1-E2) 60-70k
2nd Year EIT (E2) 65-75k
3rd Year EIT (E2) 75-85k
4th Year EIT (E2-E3) 80-90k
Junior P.Eng. (E3) 85 - 100k
Intermediate P.Eng. (E4) 100-115k
