Job description

Job Title: AI Product Engineer
Type: Direct Hire
Work Location: Remote (NYC preferred)
Job Overview:
We are hiring an AI Product Engineer to own the build out the client's internal AI native deal platform: the system that runs how the deal team sources, screens, diligences, and tracks investments from first look through close. You will inherit an early product shell, take it from prototype to production, and partner directly with the firm's leadership to define what gets built next.
This is a hands on builder role with significant executive exposure. You should expect to spend roughly 60% of your time shipping product (architecture, code, AI integration, data handling, deployment, iteration) and roughly 40% in product and stakeholder work (partner interviews, workflow design, roadmap, executive translation, and iteration cycles with firm leadership and the deal team).
Essential Job Responsibilities:
You will own end to end product delivery for the SSC deal platform, including: translating executive vision (partners, deal team, firm leadership) into prioritized product requirements; designing the architecture across AI, data, application, and DevOps layers; hands on development using AI assisted tools such as Claude Code; integrating LLMs (Anthropic Claude, Azure OpenAI, or equivalent) into deal team workflows with appropriate guardrails for accuracy and confidentiality; designing the data layer including structured deal data, document storage, and vector based retrieval over CIMs and diligence materials; running cloud infrastructure and CI/CD, including release operations, monitoring, and rollback capability; and maintaining a transparent, durable product roadmap that the deal team and firm leadership can track against.
What You'll Inherit:
  • A working Pipeline Management UI built on Lovable with a Supabase and Postgres backend, structured around five default stages of a sales process (Add New Deal, Initial Review, Due Diligence, Following, Kill) with Kanban, Deal View, and Reports views.
  • Feature affordances already designed but not yet wired up to real AI: Upload CIM (deal ingestion), Halo Chat (deal team assistant), Skills Builder (agent and workflow configuration), and card level settings.
  • Direct working relationships with the firm's leadership and the deal team as your design partners.

First year activities:
  • Take the existing UI to production. Wire the Upload CIM, Halo Chat, and Skills Builder features to real LLMs and real data. Ship a deal team using the product daily within the first 90 days.
  • Lead with sourcing and screening. The first product wedge is the top of the funnel: CIM ingestion, deal extraction, screening assistance, and pipeline triage. This is where the highest manual effort reduction sits today.
  • Roadmap to diligence and IC support next. Expand into diligence workflow, Investment Committee memo drafting and review, and portfolio tracking over the following two to three quarters.
  • Own the stack decision. Evaluate the current Lovable and Supabase foundation against an Azure native alternative (Azure OpenAI, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Functions, App Service) inside your first 30 days and bring a defensible recommendation to leadership. Whatever you choose, you own the build, the data plane, the AI integration, and the deployment.
  • Establish the iteration cadence. Define how partner and deal team feedback translates into a shipped roadmap: weekly or biweekly product reviews with leadership and a clear changelog the firm can see

Required Skills & Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in hands-on software engineering, technical product ownership, with a demonstrated track record of shipping products end-to-end (architecture, build, ship, support, iterate)
  • Demonstrable track record building and shipping production AI native applications in the last 12 to 24 months. Not pilots, not POCs.
  • Hands on fluency with LLM integration patterns (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI or Azure OpenAI, or equivalent), prompt engineering, RAG, and agentic workflows.
  • Data handling expertise including relational databases (Postgres or equivalent), document and object storage, ETL and ingestion pipelines, and vector databases (pgvector, Pinecone, Azure AI Search, or equivalent).
  • Cloud and DevOps competence: cloud native deployment (Azure, AWS, or GCP), infrastructure as code, CI/CD, environment management, monitoring, and identity and secrets management.
  • Heavy use of AI assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Copilot, Lovable, etc.) as part of daily development workflow.
  • Proven experience translating executive vision into shipped product, including iterating with non technical leaders across multiple release cycles to develop and maintain a product roadmap.

Big Bonus Points if you Have:
  • Prior experience building internal platforms or systems of record that replace fragmented SaaS toolsets.
  • Experience in or alongside private equity, M&A, or financial services (deal flow workflows, CIM handling, IC memo patterns).
  • Familiarity with Lovable and Supabase or comparable rapid AI app builders, or deep familiarity with the Azure native stack (Azure OpenAI, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Functions, App Service) if that path is chosen.
