Job Title: Sales Representative & Product Developer

Location: Columbia Basin Region (Remote)

Territory: Pacific Northwest Region; Washington, Idaho, Oregon

Schedule: Full-Time, Exempt

About the Role

The Sales Representative & Product Developer is responsible for maximizing sales performance and profitability within the assigned Enza Zaden customer base by effectively managing existing products and driving the development and introduction of new varieties. This role integrates commercial execution with technical expertise to support product pipeline development, contribute to variety selection decisions, and ensure successful market adoption.

Key Responsibilities

Sales and Account Management

  • Manage and grow sales within a defined group of customers at the subsidiary level by executing targeted sales strategies and market development initiatives.
  • Own and manage the sales budget, forecasting, and pricing activities for the assigned territory and customer base.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor customer-specific plans to ensure effective execution of tactical sales strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing and prospective customers to enhance brand loyalty and secure profitable outcomes.

Customer Engagement and Market Development

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the Enza Zaden product portfolio and provide expert technical advice to ensure successful cultivation and performance of varieties.
  • Identify opportunities to expand market presence and drive new business development with complex and diverse customers.
  • Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to identify risks and opportunities, providing actionable insights to leadership.
  • Handle diverse and challenging customers with ongoing support needs.

Product Development and Pipeline Support

  • Identify promising experimental varieties through local trials and collaboration with global Breeding teams.
  • Actively contribute to the variety selection and advancement decision-making process using data-driven insights.
  • Design and implement trial plans to evaluate new and existing varieties under local conditions, ensuring accurate and meaningful results.
  • Ensure the availability and proper management of trial seed material to support all development and evaluation activities.
  • Focus on achieving personal sales targets, driving new business, and resolving issues in key markets.
  • Support team development by mentoring junior sales professionals and accompanying them on customer visits when needed.

New Variety Introduction

  • Support the successful launch of new Enza Zaden varieties by providing technical expertise and clear product positioning to customers and stakeholders.
  • Conduct trials and demonstrations to promote product adoption and validate performance in the market.
  • Communicate product value propositions effectively to customers and prospects to drive commercialization success.

Market Intelligence and Reporting

  • Collect, analyze, and report market and customer data to support the Market Intelligence function.
  • Provide regular updates on sales progress, trial outcomes, customer feedback, and market developments to the Sales Manager and other stakeholders.
  • Independently prepare and deliver professional sales presentations, proposals, and contracts to ensure successful commercial outcomes.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in an Agricultural major is required.
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in sales, product development, agriculture, or a related industry.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements under the company's driver insurance policy.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficient in the use of Excel, Outlook and other computer tasks.
  • Proficient in English, written and spoken is required.
  • Strong customer orientation with a results-driven and sales-focused mindset.
  • Solid agricultural and/or agronomic background; prior experience with vegetable seed market in the Pacific Northwest region is desirable.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional and regional teams.

Working Conditions

  • May work longer hours during seasonal peak activities or emergencies.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and move items up to 25 - 30 lbs.
  • Occasional reaching, bending, or stooping will be necessary to manipulate plants and trials in the field.
  • Remote work environment with regular field visits and on-site customer engagement.
  • Ability to work under varying weather conditions.
  • Travel is required within specific regions (domestic/international).

Compensation & Benefits

Estimated Starting Salary Rate: $95,000 - $115,000 The starting salary is offered in goodfaith, based on role level, skill, qualifications and local market data.
