The Automation Specialist provides specialized technical support through the design, development, and maintenance of business automation solutions, data analytics tools, and SharePoint Online environments.

Casual position- on demand - 100% remote - United States

Required: US citizen or Permanent Resident - no sponsorship for this position

May require occasional travel.

You will report to the Resource Manager, SW&M

Responsibilities

Process Automation & Workflow Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated workflows using Microsoft Power Automate.
  • Analyze business processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation.
  • Create workflow solutions for approvals, notifications, document routing, onboarding, training, and reporting activities.
  • Integrate SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Excel, Forms, and other Microsoft 365 applications to eliminate manual processes and improve collaboration.
  • Develop and maintain automated reporting and data collection systems.
  • Monitor and optimize existing automation solutions to improve performance and reliability.

Data Management & Analytics

  • Develop and maintain Power Query solutions for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
  • Automate data validation, cleansing, consolidation, and reporting functions.
  • Create dashboards, KPIs, and business intelligence reports using Power BI and Excel.
  • Aggregate data from multiple business systems to provide accurate, timely, and actionable information.
  • Monitor and improve data quality, consistency, and reporting accuracy.
  • Support business decision-making through meaningful analytics and reporting solutions.

SharePoint Design & Administration

  • Design, develop, and maintain SharePoint Online sites, pages, and communication portals.
  • Create visually appealing, intuitive, and user-friendly SharePoint webpages that enhance communication and information sharing.
  • Configure page layouts, web parts, navigation structures, document libraries, lists, and permissions.
  • Develop and maintain departmental intranet pages, team sites, resource libraries, and knowledge management repositories.

Solution Design & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with department leaders and team members to identify automation and process improvement opportunities.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve efficiency, consistency, and reporting capabilities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, standardization, and cost reduction.

Training & User Support

  • Train employees on Power Platform solutions, SharePoint functionality, and automated workflows.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for automation and SharePoint-related issues.
  • Develop user guides, training materials, and best-practice documentation.
  • Help with solution adoption and change management efforts.
  • Subject matter expert for Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Power Platform technologies.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience
  • You will have 3 years of experience developing automation solutions and process improvement
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Power Automate and Power Query.
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining SharePoint Online sites and webpages.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Experience with Power BI, Power Apps, and Microsoft Dataverse.
  • Knowledge of SQL databases, data modeling, and data integration.
  • Experience with API integrations and cloud-based business applications.
  • Familiarity with project management, resource management, ERP, HRIS, or business operations systems.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement experience.
  • Microsoft Power Platform, Power BI, or SharePoint certifications.
