Job description

Entity: Owensboro Health System | Department: Legal Services | Work Hours: 40 | Weekend Requirements: N/A | 1.0 FTE
Job Summary:
Investigates reported incidents and complaints related to state and federal privacy laws, and Owensboro Health policies and procedures regarding the privacy of health and personal information. Proactively monitors and audits user access to medical records.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Enhances and maintains accurate documentation for privacy incident investigations, resolutions, and sanctions.
  • Assists management with investigating HIPAA and privacy incidents and complaints.
  • Implements procedures to regularly review records of information system activity such as audit logs, access reports, and security incident tracking reports.
  • Develops and executes audit systems and reports to monitor known methods of data breach, as well as methods for identifying obscure breaches.
  • Partners with Information Systems professionals to enhance auditing capability.
  • Documents and reports auditing activities to management as needed.
  • Oversees and assists management with activities related to the development, implementation, and enforcement of privacy policies and procedures.
  • Creates, modifies, and monitors access reports as needed.
  • Recognizes data anomalies to identify potential security breaches and/or unauthorized access.

Skills and Attributes:
  • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
  • Works under minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Position Requirements:
Work Experience
  • A minimum of 2 years' relevant experience required

Education
  • Associate's degree or higher in Health Information Management (HIM), Information Technology or related field as determined by the organization required upon hire.

Licensure/Certification/Registration
  • No licensure/certification/registration required
