What is a remote print graphic designer?

A Remote Print Graphic Designer is a creative professional who designs visual materials for print, such as brochures, posters, packaging, and advertisements, while working from a location outside of a traditional office. They use graphic design software to create layouts, select colors, and arrange images and text to communicate messages effectively. These designers collaborate with clients and team members virtually, delivering files in formats suitable for printing. Remote work allows them flexibility and access to clients or employers from anywhere.

How does a remote print graphic designer typically collaborate with clients and team members to ensure design consistency and project alignment?

As a Remote Print Graphic Designer, collaboration often happens through virtual meetings, shared project management tools, and cloud-based design platforms. Clear communication is crucial to understand client expectations and receive timely feedback. You’ll regularly present drafts, incorporate revisions, and coordinate with copywriters, marketing teams, or printers to ensure that final designs meet brand guidelines and project objectives. Staying organized and proactive in communication helps maintain consistency and ensures smooth workflow across different time zones and teams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote print graphic designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Print Graphic Designer, you need a solid background in visual design principles, typography, and layout, often demonstrated through a degree in graphic design or a strong portfolio. Proficiency with industry-standard software like Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and experience preparing files for various print processes are essential. Excellent communication, time management, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for remote collaboration and meeting deadlines. These abilities ensure high-quality, print-ready designs and effective teamwork, even when working independently from different locations.

Job description

LOCATION: U.S. locations - remote/hybrid. Candidates within commuting distance of a Wolters Kluwer office will be considered for hybrid employment. Candidates not within commuting distances will be considered for remote employment.

OVERVIEW

The Physician Editor, Neurology position requires an 80 to 90% FTE commitment for editorial work, a broad understanding of clinical issues, and an interest in analyzing the literature. For the right person, this is a unique opportunity to impact the practice of medicine throughout the United States and around the world. Physician Editors ensure that topics address the important clinical questions that arise when diagnosing or managing a specific disorder, present information clearly and succinctly, and provide evidence-based and actionable recommendations for care. Extensive editorial training is provided to help the editor learn critical skills for evaluating the literature and creating content in the UpToDate style. Training is overseen by at least two senior Physician Editors. All new topics are read and reviewed by the training editors until the new Physician Editor achieves a satisfactory level of independence.

You will be trained remotely. Candidates within commuting distance of a Wolters Kluwer office will be considered for hybrid employment. Candidates not within commuting distances will be considered for remote employment. However, work hours should significantly overlap with standard work hours in the Eastern time zone to allow for regular interaction with other Physician Editors. Candidates with strong academic backgrounds are of particular interest. Editing requires 80 to 90% FTE. In the remaining 10 to 20% time, Physician Editors should continue patient care activities, using their clinical experience to help ensure the content of the program is maximally useful at the point of care. Thus, the position provides the opportunity to remain clinically active while spending most of your time crafting clear content, reviewing the literature, and discussing the impact of new research on clinical practice with our expert contributors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Our physician editors review and edit the new contributions from our external expert authors to make sure they address the questions that a practicing clinician might have. Topics must contain specific and actionable recommendations and describe the supporting evidence. Updating is an equally important component of the work and is usually initiated by the Physician Editor, who is responsible for monitoring the literature for new developments and identifying topics that need updating. Physician Editors also systematically review existing topics for clarity, completeness, and clinical relevance. This work is not done in isolation. UpToDate editors work closely with outside authors, section editors, editors-in-chief, and peer reviewers to ensure the material is accurate and free of bias. In addition, in-house editorial and graphics assistants work with the Physician Editors to produce and maintain each topic.
