Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct culturally sensitive, strength-based assessments for new clients and their families, focusing on their unique circumstances and needs.
  • Provide individual and family therapy tailored to specific requirements, utilizing therapeutic modalities that resonate with patients.
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks including billing, documentation, creating individualized treatment plans, and obtaining insurance authorizations in a timely manner.
  • Develop comprehensive crisis plans and safety plans when necessary, alongside relapse prevention strategies and wellness plans to support sustainable client functioning.
  • Create detailed discharge plans that facilitate a smooth transition for clients out of formal care.
  • Adhere strictly to all federal and state laws, regulatory requirements, and Summerfield Mental and Wellness Center policies and procedures.
  • Maintain professional competence and continuously enhance skills through ongoing training and education opportunities.
  • Participate actively in case consultations and agency meetings to foster team collaboration and shared learning.
  • Complete all licensure requirements and mandatory training to remain compliant and knowledgeable in current practices.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your role as a Mental Health Counselor will center around serving a diverse client base. You will engage with individuals from varied backgrounds and age groups, addressing an array of mental health challenges. You will promote resilience and recovery through effective therapeutic practices, contributing to both individual success and broader community wellness objectives.

Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or a related field that prepares you for licensure.
  • Licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Therapist (LCPC, LMFT, LCSW-C) in the State of Maryland is required.
Preferred Experience

We prefer candidates with previous experience working in community health settings and familiarity with evidence-based therapeutic techniques. Experience with electronic health record systems is also advantageous, as it will facilitate efficient documentation and client management.

Compensation and Benefits
