We are currently seeking a Tools Engineer (Infrastructure Automation & Cloud Platforms) - US REMOTE to join our team in Plano, Texas (US-TX), United States (US).

Tools Engineer (Infrastructure Automation & Cloud Platforms)

 Experience Level:

  • 3–8 years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, automation, DevOps, or platform engineering
  • 3+ years of hands-on Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) experience utilizing Terraform in enterprise environments

Role Summary

The Tools Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining automation solutions that enable scalable, repeatable, and secure cloud infrastructure deployments. This role focuses on Infrastructure-as-Code, cloud platform automation, CI/CD integration, and operational tooling that supports cloud migration, provisioning, and ongoing platform operations.

The ideal candidate combines strong Terraform expertise with cloud platform knowledge, automation skills, and an operational mindset to improve deployment efficiency, reduce manual effort, and enhance service reliability across multi-cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain reusable Terraform modules and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions supporting AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI environments.
  • Implement and manage Terraform state management strategies, including remote state storage, state locking, security controls, and environment separation.
  • Develop and maintain standardized infrastructure templates, modules, and deployment patterns to promote consistency and scalability.
  • Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and configuration using:
    • Terraform
    • AWS CloudFormation
    • Azure ARM/Bicep templates
    • GCP Deployment Manager
    • OCI Resource Manager
  • Support deployment of compute, storage, networking, identity, and security services across cloud platforms.
  • Integrate automation solutions with enterprise landing zone and governance standards.
  • Develop automation scripts and tooling using:
    • Python
    • Bash
    • PowerShell
  • Leverage APIs and automation frameworks to:
    • Eliminate manual processes
    • Streamline environment provisioning
    • Support migration and deployment activities
    • Improve operational efficiency
  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using:
    • Azure DevOps
    • GitHub Actions
    • Git-based source control workflows
  • Support automated infrastructure deployment, testing, validation, and promotion across development, test, staging, and production environments.
  • Implement infrastructure version control and release management best practices.
  • Collaborate with Cloud Engineers, Platform Teams, Security Teams, and Application Teams to develop automated deployment and operational solutions.
  • Build and maintain configuration management, monitoring, and operational automation capabilities.
  • Support implementation of security controls including:
    • IAM roles and policies
    • Least-privilege access models
    • Secrets management
    • Infrastructure compliance validation
  • Develop operational documentation, deployment guides, architecture diagrams, and runbooks.
  • Continuously evaluate opportunities to improve automation, reduce deployment complexity, and increase platform reliability.

Troubleshooting & Operational Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure deployment issues across cloud platforms and environments.
  • Debug Terraform code, module dependencies, configuration errors, and state management issues.
  • Analyze and resolve CI/CD pipeline failures and deployment exceptions.
  • Support incident response and operational remediation activities when infrastructure automation impacts service delivery.
  • Work effectively within customer environments where access constraints, incomplete requirements, or changing priorities may require creative problem-solving and adaptability.
  • Identify root causes of recurring deployment and provisioning issues and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Support environment validations, smoke testing, and post-deployment verification activities.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure fundamentals, including:
    • Networking
    • Identity and Access Management (IAM)
    • Compute services
    • Storage services
    • Security controls
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, and/or OCI cloud platforms.
  • Experience developing automation using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages.
  • Experience integrating infrastructure deployments with CI/CD platforms such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills within complex cloud environments.
  • Experience using Git-based version control and collaborative development workflows.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within dynamic, rapidly changing environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Terraform Associate or equivalent Infrastructure-as-Code certification.
  • AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or Oracle Cloud certifications.
  • Experience supporting large-scale cloud migrations and modernization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, container platforms, and platform engineering concepts.
  • Experience implementing security, compliance, and governance controls within cloud environments.
  • Experience supporting multi-cloud enterprise environments and shared services platforms.

Support Model

  • Participation in after-hours maintenance activities may be required to support deployments, releases, migrations, or critical production initiatives.
