Job description

Senior Overhead Transmission Line Engineer
Location: Remote (U.S.) and/or King of Prussia, PA (Headquarters)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
About ExecuPOWER:
ExecuPOWER is a rapidly growing, certified women-owned engineering consulting firm delivering premium power delivery and transmission engineering services to major utility clients across the U.S. Our team specializes in high-voltage transmission line design (69kV-500kV), supporting critical infrastructure projects that power communities and drive grid reliability.
About the Role:
We're hiring a Senior Transmission Engineer to support the design of overhead transmission lines using tools like PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER.
This role is ideal for an engineer ready to own full design packages, work directly with utility clients, and grow into a senior-level position, without being stuck doing redlines or siloed work.
What You'll Own:
  • Full transmission line design packages from routing through final deliverables
  • Engineering decisions, including structure spotting, sag-tension, and foundation/clearance analysis
  • Collaboration with utility clients, PMs, and field teams
  • Design execution using PLS-CADD and industry-standard tools

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Design high-voltage transmission lines (69kV-500kV) for overhead and underground systems
  • Perform PLS-CADD modeling, including sag-tension analysis, clearance calculations, and structure spotting
  • Develop line routing, plan & profiles, and cable systems
  • Develop project cost estimates, schedules, and design options for client approvals.
  • Conduct engineering studies, including ampacity, cable selection, and system modeling
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, material specs, and asset data (SAP / Asset Suite)
  • Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to deliver projects on schedule and within scope
  • Ensure compliance with NESC, ASCE, IEEE, and utility standards
  • Prepare technical reports, status updates, and maintain timely documentation.

What You Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited preferred)
  • 4-8 years of transmission line design experience in the electric utility or consulting industry
  • Hands-on experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, or PLS-TOWER
  • Strong understanding of high-voltage transmission systems (69kV-500kV)
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or GIS
  • Knowledge of NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and ASCE standards
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations (sag, tension, clearance)
  • Strong communication and ability to work cross-functionally in a remote environment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • EIT or PE (or ability to obtain)
  • Experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, MFAD, L-PILE
  • Experience designing custom structures (Steel, FRP, Laminate, Ductile IRON, etc.)
  • Experience supporting major utilities across the USA

What You Won't Be Stuck Doing:
  • Redlining drawings all day
  • Working on one small piece of a project in assembly design structure
  • Waiting on layers of approvals to make decisions

What Success Looks Like (6 Months):
  • Independently executing PLS-CADD designs for transmission projects
  • Becoming part of a team-oriented environment; training, developing, and mentoring those around you
  • Owning deliverables with minimal oversight

Why Engineers Choose ExecuPOWER?
  • Faster path to ownership and technical growth
  • Exposure to a growing client group with diverse project portfolios and clients' standards
  • Work in an environment that affords both technical development and an opportunity to grow with the company
  • Opportunity to focus on technical design while not being burdened by project management tasks
