Job description

Overview
We are designing the grid of the future!
As a Principal Electrical Engineer, Data Center at Electric Power Engineers (EPE), you will lead the design, implementation, and lifecycle support of mission-critical electrical systems for hyperscale data centers. Your work will directly safeguard uptime, optimize efficiency, and maintain the highest safety standards across EPE's fast-growing global portfolio.
Responsibilities
How you can make an impact:
  • Engineer medium- and low-voltage power distribution, UPS and generator backup, and emergency power systems for high-density loads.
  • Produce and review one-line diagrams, schematics, Bills of Materials, and installation drawings.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations, including National Electric Code (NEC) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards
  • Work closely with mechanical, civil, controls, and IT teams to define project requirements, design criteria, and budgets.
  • Provide technical leadership during design reviews, value-engineering sessions, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and on-site inspections.
  • Analyze electrical systems to identify and resolve issues, including load balancing, capacity planning, and power consumption optimization
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in data center technologies, and recommend new technologies to improve the reliability and efficiency of our data center infrastructure

Qualifications
Bring your passion, here's what's needed:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering plus 10+ years of progressive experience in data-center or other mission-critical electrical design; active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license. Master is preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of power-distribution architecture, UPS/generator systems, grounding/bonding, and protective-device coordination for ≥ 20 MW facilities.
  • Demonstrated success delivering data-center projects from concept through commissioning, including field construction support.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations, including NEC and IEC standards

Lead the change!
Be a part of an innovative team shaping the grid of the future through advanced energy intelligence. For more than half a century, Electric Power Engineers (EPE) has partnered with power and energy clients across the globe, providing consulting expertise and energy intelligence software solutions for complex engineering and grid modeling challenges. As leaders in the renewables space, we are focused on building a modern, secure, and resilient grid. Join us in making an impact on the communities we serve and the environment in which we live. Together we can transform the future of energy.
How we support you:
