How to Get a Job as a Remote PowerBuilder Developer

The primary qualifications to get a job as a remote PowerBuilder developer vary depending on the employer but usually include a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and several years of experience using PowerBuilder. It’s recommended to spend a few years in an office-based role to gain experience before making the switch to remote work. PowerBuilder itself is a relatively advanced programming system, so you may want to study other programming languages first. Fulfilling your responsibilities and duties as a remote PowerBuilder developer also requires coding, time-management, and communication skills, as well as a reliable computer with high-speed internet access.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Power Builder Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Power Builder Developer, you need a strong background in PowerBuilder programming, SQL databases, and application development, typically supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with PowerBuilder IDE, version control systems like Git, and experience with software development methodologies are essential. Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for collaborating remotely and delivering project requirements. These skills ensure efficient development, seamless teamwork across locations, and successful project outcomes in a remote work environment.

What is a Remote Power Builder Developer?

A Remote Power Builder Developer is a software professional who specializes in developing, maintaining, and enhancing applications using PowerBuilder, a rapid application development (RAD) tool, while working from a remote location. Their responsibilities typically include coding, debugging, and optimizing PowerBuilder applications, integrating them with databases, and troubleshooting technical issues. Since they work remotely, strong communication and collaboration skills are important, as they often coordinate with teams and clients through online platforms.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote Power Builder Developers and how can they be managed?

Remote Power Builder Developers often encounter challenges such as coordinating with distributed teams, understanding legacy codebases, and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders. Managing these challenges involves using collaboration tools for clear communication, setting up regular check-ins with team members, and maintaining thorough documentation of code changes. Additionally, staying updated with modern PowerBuilder practices and leveraging remote desktop solutions can help streamline troubleshooting and development tasks.

Job description

Employment Type: 1099 Independent Contractor
Industry: Solar Power Infrastructure
Location: Remote / Territory-Based
Compensation: Commission-Only (High Earning Potential)

Company Overview: Established in California in 2013, Green Water and Power has rapidly grown to operate in over 25 states, positioning itself as a leader in the sustainable energy sector. Named the #1 electric vehicle (EV) installer in America, we take pride in having deployed more than 10,000 EV chargers and completed approximately 5 megawatts (MW) of solar energy projects.

As an EVITP (Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program) certified turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm, we leverage our in-house expertise to efficiently manage and execute large-scale projects. Our dedication to sustainability and quality extends beyond project completion; we also provide comprehensive operation and maintenance services to ensure optimal performance for the projects we develop, as well as for third-party installations.

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated, entrepreneurial 1099 Independent Sales Consultant to grow our presence in key markets. As an independent contractor, you will build your own pipeline, manage client relationships, and generate new business opportunities for Solar Power projects. This role offers full autonomy with uncapped commission potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prospect and generate leads within commercial real estate, multifamily housing, retail, hospitality, workplace, fleet, and municipal sectors.
  • Present and sell Solar Power solutions, including installation services and maintenance programs.
  • Educate prospects on rebates, incentives, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Secure electric bill, single line drawings and contract from clients.
  • Manage own leads, opportunities, and pipeline activity.

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience in outside sales, B2B sales, or technical/solution-based sales.
  • Experience selling to property owners, developers, or facility leaders a plus.
  • Knowledge of Solar Power, renewable energy, or electrical infrastructure is helpful but NOT REQUIRED (resources provided).
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, and comfortable working independently.
  • Existing industry contacts or networks are a strong advantage.

Requirements:

  • Need to have established business or a current W-2 position elsewhere.
  • Must have your own transportation.
  • Provide your own computer and equipment.
  • Responsible to pay your own expenses.

Why Work With Us:

  • Uncapped commission structure with high earning potential.
  • Complete independence as a 1099 contractor-set your own schedule and strategy.
  • Access to sales resources, marketing tools, and product training.
  • Fast-growing industry with expanding demand and recurring revenue potential.
  • Ability to add Solar Power to your existing portfolio if you're already a rep or consultant.

Compensation:

This is a commission-only 1099 role. Commission percentages vary based on project size and product category.
