Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Platform Engineer based in Netherlands.

This role focuses on modernizing enterprise collaboration platforms through SharePoint administration, development, and cloud migration initiatives.
You will play a key role in transitioning legacy SharePoint environments to scalable, secure, and efficient SharePoint Online solutions.
The position combines technical expertise, platform engineering, automation, and governance to support digital workplace transformation.
You will collaborate with infrastructure, security, application, and business teams to deliver reliable collaboration experiences across the organization.
The ideal candidate will bring strong SharePoint expertise, migration experience, and the ability to improve enterprise platforms through modern technologies.

Accountabilities:

The Platform Engineer will be responsible for designing, managing, and improving SharePoint environments while supporting large-scale migration, modernization, and operational excellence initiatives.

  • Administer and support SharePoint On-Premises (2013/2016/2019) and SharePoint Online environments, including site collections, permissions, storage, and service configurations.
  • Design and execute migration strategies from SharePoint On-Premises to SharePoint Online, including content assessment, remediation, planning, and cutover activities.
  • Perform enterprise SharePoint migrations using tools such as SharePoint Migration Tool, ShareGate, or equivalent platforms.
  • Develop and enhance SharePoint solutions using SharePoint Framework (SPFx), PowerShell automation, REST APIs, and Microsoft Power Platform integrations.
  • Modernize legacy SharePoint sites, workflows, and custom solutions into modern SharePoint Online architectures.
  • Implement and maintain governance frameworks, information architecture standards, and content lifecycle management practices.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure alignment with access controls, data protection, and retention requirements.
  • Provide Level 3 support, troubleshooting, and performance optimization for SharePoint-related issues.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation covering architecture, migration processes, operational procedures, and platform standards.
  • Support user adoption initiatives by providing technical guidance and best practices to business stakeholders.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to continuously improve platform reliability, scalability, and user experience.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced SharePoint professional with strong platform administration, migration, automation, and development capabilities, combined with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience administering SharePoint On-Premises and SharePoint Online environments.
  • Proven experience delivering enterprise-level migrations from SharePoint On-Premises to SharePoint Online.
  • Strong understanding of SharePoint architecture, service applications, authentication models, and platform configuration.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting for administration, automation, and migration activities.
  • Knowledge of modern SharePoint development practices, including SPFx and REST APIs.
  • Practical experience working with Microsoft 365 services such as Entra ID (Azure AD), Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive.
  • Experience with SharePoint migration tools such as ShareGate, SharePoint Migration Tool, or similar solutions.
  • Familiarity with records management, retention labels, compliance features, and information governance.
  • Experience developing solutions with Power Apps and Power Automate is a plus.
  • Background working in regulated, security-conscious, or enterprise environments is preferred.
  • Experience contributing to platform governance models, operating procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
