Summary
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a PAINTER - TITLE 32, Position Description Number PDD2127000 and is part of the KY CSMS, National Guard.

Duties

As a PAINTER - TITLE 32, WG-4102-9, you will prepare surfaces by removing rust, paint, and loose particles. Fill in holes and dents using body fillers and hardeners. Sand and even out dents and scars to assure a smooth and level surface using sanders, scrapers, sandpaper, hand tools, wire brushes, and paint remover. Apply coatings to specified areas ensuring the surfaces are free from skips, runs, and drips. Apply rustproof compound to areas. Apply coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray paint equipment. Prepare coating materials using guidelines set by the manufacturer, by tinting, toning, etching, blending, and mixing in additives needed. Use measuring equipment to achieve the proper viscosity and thickness for applying the coatings. Apply prime, intermediate and final coats of semi-gloss, gloss and other paint, lacquer, enamel, varnish and shellac. Ensure match, texture and appearance meet finish requirements. Replace and apply markings/lettering as specified by manuals. Apply coatings using acceptable methods of the trade. Read and interpret blueprints when applying camouflage patterns. Read and interpret directions that relate to mixture, use, and application of coating materials, solvents, and precoating agents. Monitor and adjust air pressures in paint booth, controls heat settings and drying times in drying booth to achieve proper surface adhesion of coatings. Complete records for paint usage and paint waste as per environmental regulations. Apply Chemical Agent Reactive Coating materials in accordance with specifications and dimensions. Manage workflow in paint shop as assigned by the supervisor. Confer with the customer when needed. Clean and maintain painting equipment. Perform other duties as assigned.

RANK REQUIREMENT:
Member must provide in writing with their application package that they are willing to accept a reduction in rank in order to be qualified for this position, if applicable. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard.
You must be assigned to a compatible military position.
Wear of the military uniform.
Position may require a pre-employment physical.
May be subject to furlough actions.
May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation.
Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus.
Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility.
This position is located on a tobacco free facility.
This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:
Experience which demonstrates the knowledge of surface preparation (removal of rust, dirt, paint, etc); coating methods (brushing, rolling, and spraying); and coating materials (paints, varnishes, shellacs, etc). Must have the ability to use tools and equipment associated with the painting trade and to read and interpret directions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have at least 18 months experience which demonstrates the knowledge of any surface preparation and coating methods and techniques. Experience building up, shaping, and leveling surfaces with metal and synthetic resins, plastics, and patching compounds; obtain finely smoothed surfaces with abrasive compounds, pumice, and rottenstone; even out dents and scars by burning-in processes; and treat surfaces with pre-coating agents.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Resume must have complete dates, work schedule, and/or hours worked per week for both civilian and military employment. (Example: 2 JAN 1980 to 3 MAR 1981; 0800-1630 M-F or JAN 1980 to MAR 1981; 40 hrs/wk) Use of year only and unspecified work schedule will result in disqualification. Each applicant must fully substantiate -in their own words- that they meet 100% of the minimum requirements and specialized experience listed above in detail; otherwise, the applicant will be considered unqualified for this position.
