This role is available within Huntington Bank Corporate office footprint.

Summary:

The Commercial Loan Closing Specialist supports the Commercial Loan Officers in driving the closing process for commercial loan products, including documentation gathering, due diligence gathering and review; as well as loan funding. Acts as a control point ensuring adherence to bank policies and procedures and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Serve as a liaison with internal and external parties including operations, risk, and compliance, in-house and outside counsel. This position requires the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • This position is directly responsible for integrity of loan closing, due diligence, documentation, compliance, booking to system of record, and closing files for assigned customers and loans.
  • Orders and reviews due diligence such as title commitments, flood determinations, insurance and other pre-closing items, and coordinates review with respective banker, outside counsel and title company. Completes funding, ensures all fees are collected (e.g. appraisal fees, commitment fees and other closing fees,) and prepares forms necessary to book loan on system of record.
  • Responsible for clearing any outstanding post-closing items and collateral exceptions; works with Commercial Loan Servicing to resolve errors. Manages closing checklist and closing files via according to Business Segment standards.
  • Requests and reviews closing documents to ensure the structure and terms of the loan conform to credit approval and bank policies and are appropriately completed prior to closing.
  • This position develops and maintains relationships with bank attorneys and outside counsel, title companies, and other third parties .
  • Acts as a control point ensuring adherence to bank policies and procedures and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Keeps informed of and communicates with assigned banking region all risk-related changes that may impact assigned work functions and processes.
  • Follows, or in some cases establishes, as required, effective controls and processes to ensure risks are measured, monitored and controlled and compliance requirements are adhered to on an on-going basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or Five (5) years of Commercial Banking experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in understanding of Commercial Loan Documentation and collateral perfection


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills required.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills including professional grammar and demeanor.
  • Demonstrates confidence, assertiveness, professionalism, and ability to interact with all levels within the organization in a professional manner.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, planning and follow-up.
  • PC and internet proficiency required such as Microsoft Office and Sharepoint.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks without compromising quality.
  • Prioritize high volume work flow.
  • Accepting of change and capable of learning new processes.
