This role is a senior delivery leadership position responsible for driving execution excellence across a portfolio of complex, high-impact IT projects within a large matrixed environment. You will oversee day-to-day PMO operations, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with contractual and financial expectations. The position combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership, requiring the ability to coach project managers while also stepping in directly when delivery risks arise. You will work closely with executive stakeholders and cross-functional teams to maintain alignment, transparency, and consistent communication across all initiatives. A key focus of the role is ensuring strong governance, performance tracking, and proactive risk management across multiple concurrent projects. You will lead a distributed PMO team, fostering accountability, adaptability, and a strong customer-focused delivery culture. This is a high-visibility role where your leadership directly influences project success, operational efficiency, and client satisfaction.

Accountabilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the PMO, ensuring effective delivery of project management services across a portfolio of technical initiatives.
  • Lead and manage a remote team of Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, and Program Managers overseeing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and contractual obligations, maintaining strong governance and delivery discipline.
  • Track performance metrics and project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and variance analysis.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate delivery risks while escalating issues appropriately to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Maintain strong communication with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency.
  • Apply project management methodologies (Agile, PMBOK) to ensure structured and consistent execution across programs.
  • Drive continuous improvement in delivery practices while reinforcing a customer-focused, results-oriented culture.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, or related field (Master's degree is a plus).
  • 5+ years of experience in a PMO Manager or PMO Director role within a large enterprise, matrixed organization.
  • Strong expertise in project management methodologies including Agile and PMBOK frameworks.
  • Proven experience managing complex IT projects with technical delivery components.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and project performance analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, teams, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills with a hands-on management approach.
  • Relevant certifications such as PMP, PMI-ACP, CSM, or Microsoft Project are strongly preferred (minimum two required).
  • Ability to adapt to evolving priorities, technologies, and organizational needs.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary range: $160,000 – $210,000 annually, based on experience, clearance level, and qualifications.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Opportunities to work on impactful, large-scale public sector and enterprise IT programs.
  • Career growth in a highly technical and mission-driven consulting environment.
