SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS 


JOB TITLE: System Engineer - Cloud
REQUISITION ID: INF00EO

LOCATION: Topeka, KS or Kansas City, MO, and Remote.
PAY RANGE: 
System Engineer I - $61,000 - $76,300
System Engineer II - $74,700 - $93,400
Sr System Engineer - $84,500 - $112,600
Scheduled Work Hours:    Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Other hours as required)


Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:  
This position assumes a role in the deployment, design, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure and applications. Contribute as part of a team in the installation, upgrade and configuration of infrastructure applications.
   Monitor and test cloud infrastructure and applications to identify potential points of failure and recommend corrective actions. 
   Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and resilient Azure cloud solutions. 
   Participate in architecture and design discussions, offering best practice guidance for Azure services. 
   Administer deployment, configuration, and maintenance of cloud resources.
   Automate infrastructure using platforms such as ARM templates, Bicep, Terraform, Azure CLI, and Ansible AWX. 
   Monitor performance and availability using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, or similar tools
   Collaborate with senior engineers to respond to incidents and service requests. 
   Analyze and optimize cloud costs using tools such as Azure Cost Management and FinOps practices.
   Contribute to and help enforce security and governance standards (e.g., Azure Policy, RBAC, and Zero Trust principles).
   Gather solution requirements with a consultant mindset and assist in producing architectural recommendations. 
   Implement and support core Azure platform services, including networking, identity, monitoring, and governance components.
   Support hybrid cloud integrations, including identity, networking, and on-premises connectivity where applicable.
   Contribute to automation-first and infrastructure-as-code strategies to reduce manual operational effort.
   Commit to continuous learning and professional development.
 

Education and Experience Requirements:
   Ideal candidate has the following:
o    Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience.
AND
o    3 - 5 years of Azure systems administration experience working within an organization's cloud environment.
   The following certifications are a plus:
o    Microsoft Certified: AZ-104 Microsoft Azure Administrator
o    Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate (SC-300)
o    Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500)
o    Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate (AI-102)
o    Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:
   Understanding of cloud operating models, shared responsibility principles, and cloud security fundamentals.
   Familiarity with CI/CD processes, Git workflows, and infrastructure as code pipelines.
   Experience with scripting or automation using tools such as PowerShell, Python, or similar languages
   Working knowledge of multiple operating/networking systems with expertise in at least one system.
   Working knowledge of business goals, corporate IT standards, strategy and service level agreements.
   Communicates effectively with all levels of employees, both technical and non-technical.
   Establishes cooperative relationships with other departments.
   Effective project team member.
   Searches for and identifies alternative and/or innovative solutions to technical problems.
   Uses planning skills to manage and complete projects on time and on budget.
   Exercises sound judgment when making decisions.
   Quickly adapts to multiple demands and rapidly changing priorities.
