Job Function:
The Plastics Market Sales Engineer This is a remote, full-time, outside sales position, based in an assigned region near Austin, TX. The Plastics Market Sales Engineer is responsible for achieving the company's revenue-growth ambition in the defined market region. Sales Engineers bring market, application, product, and sales expertise to the company, working with customers, Management, and other departments to sell quick-mold-change & other fluid-connector solutions, solving customer needs.
Reports to:
Head of Business, Plastics Market, North America
Responsibilities and Objectives:
  • Understand and execute market strategy.
  • Work independently in assigned territory while coordinating closely with teammates across North America and globally; Plastics business requires collaboration across territories.
  • Create an annual budget roadmap, updated quarterly, to achieve target.
  • Create weekly call plans based on open offers, opportunities, leads, target accounts, and prospecting, to achieve an average of 20-24 visits per month.
  • Travel onsite to customer locations to build relationships, uncover and analyze needs, suggest solutions and innovative ideas, promote value propositions, and use Strategic Selling methods.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, demos, and workshops, and ROI calculations, creating value.
  • Grow relationships with existing customers and find & prospect new potential customers.
  • Negotiate & close offers and handle complaints & objections.
  • Maintain CRM database for companies, customer profiles, contacts, opportunities, offers, and activity reporting, daily.
  • Liaise with Management, Engineering, and/or Production Units to:
    • Ensure all relevant information is directed to concerned Stäubli divisions and colleagues.
    • Find solutions, develop proposals, and create offers to meet customer needs.
    • Stay current with Stäubli products.
    • Identify product development opportunities and share competition intelligence.
    • Create forecasts and market & customer trend analysis.
  • Engage in weekly planning and review calls with team and management.
  • Engage in team & international sales meetings, workshops, and other seminars.
  • Engage in marketing planning, exhibitions, conferences, open houses, customer testimonials, etc.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and developing personal networks.
  • Conduct business in a professional manner with the company's interest and welfare in mind.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Adheres to all safety, quality and environmental standards

Qualifications
  • Degree in Mechatronics or Engineering (Mechanical or Manufacturing/Industrial) or associate degree with significant injection molding experience
  • Strategic Sales training
  • Minimum 7 years in the plastics market, especially injection-molding, manufacturing, or related fields (process, tooling, production, equipment).
  • Technical Sales or other customer-facing experience.
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.
  • Understanding and knowledge plastic injection molding or related fields: process, tooling, production, equipment, SMED and quick-mold-change knowledge and experience.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships based on mutual trust, respect, and cooperation with managers, co-workers, customers and/or vendors.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, resourceful, problem solver, works with minimal supervision.
  • Positive, professional attitude.
  • Willingness to challenge themselves with complex technical problems.
  • Ability to use a PC and Microsoft Office applications at a high level.
  • Bilingual is a plus, but not required: Spanish, French, German.

Additional Information
Physical Requirements:
  • Travel Stamina: Ability to travel frequently to meet with customers, attend trade shows, and visit client sites.
  • Presentation Stamina: Capability to stand for extended periods while delivering technical demonstrations, presentations, or training sessions.
  • Vision and Hearing: Adept visual acuity for analyzing technical drawings, software interfaces, or machinery, and auditory capabilities for clear communication in, sometimes, loud environments.
  • Physical Dexterity: General dexterity to operate computers, and, in some cases, handle, demonstrate, or install technical, scientific, or mechanical equipment.

Work schedule:
  • Willingness to travel as required both domestically and internationally (up to 50-70%)
  • On the road 3 out of 4 weeks; 3-4 days per week; 20-24 visits per month.
