Role Overview
The SAP Basis Administrator and Infrastructure Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise SAP environments across a complex, multi-system landscape. This role provides both hands-on Basis administration and architectural guidance, supporting system upgrades, performance optimization, and infrastructure strategy. The position works closely with technical and functional teams to ensure SAP environments are stable, scalable, and aligned with enterprise standards.
Key Responsibilities
SAP Basis Administration & Operations
  • Perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of SAP systems and supporting components
  • Manage enhancement packs, support packages, OSS notes, and system upgrades
  • Monitor system performance and conduct workload analysis, error analysis, and health checks
  • Manage SAP profiles, parameters, and system configurations
  • Administer system copies, client copies, refreshes, and transport management
Infrastructure Architecture & System Design
  • Provide architectural guidance for SAP environments across Microsoft Windows Server and SQL Server platforms
  • Define hardware specifications and support infrastructure planning for SAP landscapes
  • Develop implementation strategies, processes, and best practices for system deployment and maintenance
  • Assist in creating high-level implementation roadmaps and solution designs
Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting
  • Analyze system and database performance and implement tuning improvements
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, OS, and SAP-related issues
  • Ensure optimal disk layout, filesystem structure, and operating system configuration
  • Establish OSS and EarlyWatch connections for proactive system monitoring
Integration & Platform Support
  • Support SAP integrations with third-party systems and technologies
  • Work across multi-system SAP environments including core application, analytics, and integration platforms
  • Provide technical consulting for development, functional, and integration teams
Project Leadership & Collaboration
  • Lead technical initiatives and coordinate work across multiple teams
  • Provide work estimates, manage change requests, and ensure timely delivery
  • Collaborate with technical, functional, and business teams to align solutions with requirements
  • Investigate new SAP technologies and recommend improvements
Documentation, Training & Knowledge Transfer
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures
  • Provide formal knowledge transfer through documentation, training sessions, and peer mentoring
  • Communicate technical concepts, risks, and issues effectively to stakeholders
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Business, or equivalent professional experience
  • 10 or more years of experience with ABAP solution architecture
  • 10 or more years of experience with ABAP and Java installation and configuration
  • 10 or more years of experience with SAP upgrades, enhancement packs, OSS notes, support packs, and troubleshooting
  • 5 or more years of experience working with SAP NetWeaver releases
  • 5 or more years of experience supporting SAP in public sector environments
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Windows Server and SQL Server environments
  • Experience working with virtualization technologies such as VMware
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting ECC, SRM, BW, PI, Solution Manager, Fiori, or Business Objects environments
  • Experience with SAP architecture and solution design
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Visio, and Project
  • Experience with Microsoft Server and SQL Server administration
  • Experience supporting SAP upgrades and enhancement pack implementations
  • Project management experience
