Remote Phone Canvassing information

What is remote phone canvassing?

Remote phone canvassing is a job where individuals contact people by phone to gather information, promote a cause or candidate, or encourage specific actions such as voting or supporting a campaign. Instead of working from a physical call center, remote phone canvassers work from home or another location with internet and phone access. The job typically involves following a script, recording responses, and sometimes entering data into a system. This role requires good communication skills, patience, and the ability to handle rejection or challenging conversations. It is commonly used in political campaigns, market research, and nonprofit outreach.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote phone canvasser, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Phone Canvasser, strong verbal communication, active listening, and persuasive speaking skills are essential, typically supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) systems, autodialers, and call-tracking software is often required. Persistence, adaptability, and a positive attitude help individuals connect with diverse audiences and navigate rejection. These skills and qualities are crucial for effectively engaging potential supporters or customers and achieving campaign goals from a remote setting.

What are some common challenges faced in remote phone canvassing, and how can they be overcome?

Remote phone canvassing professionals often encounter challenges such as reaching reluctant or unresponsive contacts, maintaining motivation during repetitive calls, and effectively communicating key messages without face-to-face interaction. Overcoming these hurdles involves developing strong communication skills, using a clear and engaging script, and staying organized with call tracking tools. Regular team check-ins and sharing best practices can also help build a supportive environment, keeping morale high and improving overall results.

Job description

SALES MANAGER - RESIDENTIAL HOME IMPROVEMENT & REMODELING

Location: Remote (Greater Miami Area Preferred) | Position Type: Full-Time

We are a rapidly growing home improvement and residential solutions organization serving homeowners throughout Florida. Our company specializes in helping families improve the efficiency, value, comfort, and functionality of their homes through a broad portfolio of residential services and high-end remodeling solutions-including exterior renovations, roofing, impact windows and doors, HVAC, siding, and energy-efficient home upgrades.

With a strong marketing engine, dedicated appointment-setting teams, and a proven sales process, we generate a consistent flow of qualified opportunities and continue to expand our footprint across the state. Our culture is built around performance, accountability, leadership, and creating opportunities for high-achieving professionals who thrive in fast-paced sales environments.

We are seeking an experienced Sales Manager to lead and develop a team of approximately 8-10 in-home and phone-based closers responsible for converting warm homeowner leads into sales. This is a hands-on leadership position focused on driving revenue, improving close rates, coaching sales professionals, and ensuring consistent execution of the sales process.

The organization maintains a dedicated call center responsible for outbound prospecting and appointment setting, allowing the sales team to focus on qualified opportunities rather than cold outreach. The Sales Manager will oversee the closing team, monitor pipeline performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies that maximize revenue across multiple residential product lines, including home renovations, exterior improvements, HVAC, energy efficiency upgrades, and other high-ticket homeowner services.

This role is ideal for a sales leader who has successfully managed closers, understands high-volume consumer sales environments, and has a proven track record of building accountability and performance within a sales organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 8-10 sales closers responsible for converting warm homeowner leads into revenue.
  • Drive overall sales performance, revenue growth, and profitability across multiple residential service and home improvement offerings.
  • Monitor sales metrics, KPIs, conversion rates, appointment outcomes, and overall team performance.
  • Conduct regular coaching sessions, call reviews, pipeline reviews, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to improve close rates and maximize average deal value.
  • Create a culture of accountability, competition, and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with appointment-setting teams and call center leadership to ensure a seamless handoff process and strong lead quality.
  • Identify training opportunities and implement sales development initiatives for both new and experienced team members.
  • Forecast revenue, track sales trends, and provide leadership with accurate performance reporting.
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and retaining top-performing sales professionals.
  • Ensure consistent adherence to company sales processes, customer experience standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on growth initiatives, expansion opportunities, and sales optimization strategies.
  • Help establish scalable systems and processes as the organization continues to grow.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Leadership Experience: 5+ years of sales leadership experience with direct responsibility for managing closers or high-performing sales teams.
  • Industry Focus: Demonstrated success leading teams in home services, home improvement, roofing, HVAC, remodeling, windows, doors, residential energy efficiency, or other direct-to-consumer home renovation sales environments. (Note: Candidates whose primary background is strictly in residential solar canvassing will not be considered).
  • Model Expertise: Strong understanding of warm-lead sales models, one-call closing, and appointment-driven sales organizations.
  • Performance Ownership: Proven ability to improve conversion rates, increase revenue, and develop top-performing sales professionals.
  • Operations & Tech: Experience managing sales pipelines, forecasts, KPIs, and performance reporting using CRM systems and sales management tools.
  • Leadership & Coaching: Excellent coaching, mentoring, analytical, and team-building abilities with a focus on accountability and trend analysis.
  • Environment & Location: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment, with the self-motivation to effectively manage remote teams while maintaining performance standards. Must be located in or near the Greater Miami area.
COMPENSATION & PROFESSIONAL ADVANCEMENT
  • Base Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 / year based on experience.
  • Commission Overrides: Additional commission override on team production (approximately 2% range).
  • Target Earnings: Expected earnings of $200,000+ annually for a high-performing Sales Manager leading a successful team, with strong earning potential tied directly to team performance and revenue growth.
  • Work Arrangement: Fully remote position with a strong preference for candidates located in the Greater Miami area.
  • Growth Opportunity: Opportunity to play a key leadership role within a rapidly growing organization with significant advancement potential.
