What is a remote performance engineer?

Remote Performance Engineers are specialized IT professionals who work from remote locations to monitor, analyze, and optimize the performance of software applications, systems, or networks. Their main goal is to ensure that digital products run efficiently and can handle user demand without slowdowns or outages. They utilize various tools and methodologies to identify bottlenecks, conduct testing, and recommend or implement solutions to improve overall system performance. These engineers often collaborate with development, operations, and QA teams to maintain high standards of reliability and speed for end users.

How does a remote performance engineer typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to address system bottlenecks?

Remote Performance Engineers frequently work alongside developers, QA analysts, and operations teams to identify and resolve system performance issues. Collaboration is often facilitated through virtual meetings, shared dashboards, and ticketing systems, allowing for real-time discussion of bottlenecks and potential solutions. Engineers may be responsible for presenting their findings, recommending optimizations, and guiding implementation while ensuring all stakeholders are aligned on priorities. Effective communication skills and proactive documentation are essential to succeed in this remote, collaborative environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote performance engineer, and why are they important?

To excel as a Remote Performance Engineer, you need a strong background in software engineering, performance testing, and systems analysis, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, New Relic, and cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, as well as relevant certifications, is highly valuable. Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective remote communication are critical soft skills for this role. These abilities ensure optimal system performance, efficient troubleshooting, and successful collaboration across distributed teams.

Job description

About the Company:
ArcSite is the leading mobile sketching and drawing-based takeoff and estimating solution, trusted by designers, field sales teams, technicians, and inspectors. Our intuitive platform empowers users to create professional drawings on any device - without the steep learning curve of traditional CAD software - helping businesses save time, generate quotes faster, and close deals more efficiently.

We're a remote-first team with a strong sense of community, driven by growth, collaboration, and our core values: start with the customer, constantly improve, take risks, operate with transparency, and own it. At ArcSite, every team member has the opportunity to grow their career while making an impact, shaping the future of design, and living these values in everything we do.

About the Role:

We are seeking a Product Manager to lead the strategy and execution for one or more of ArcSite's core industry verticals. This role will be responsible for deeply understanding the customers, workflows, and market dynamics within assigned industries and translating those insights into products that solve meaningful business problems.

You'll partner closely with Design, Engineering, Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, and Leadership to define product strategy, prioritize investments, and deliver solutions that help our customers work more efficiently and grow their businesses.

Success in this role requires curiosity, strong product intuition, excellent communication, and a passion for understanding customer needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer & Market Discovery

  • Become the subject matter expert for assigned customer verticals by developing a deep understanding of their workflows, pain points, and business objectives.
  • Conduct customer interviews, usability testing, and market research to identify opportunities for product innovation.
  • Partner with Sales and Customer Success to gather customer feedback and validate product direction.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitors, and emerging customer needs.

Product Strategy

  • Define and own the product strategy and roadmap for assigned verticals.
  • Balance customer needs, technical constraints, and business priorities when making product decisions.
  • Develop business cases and prioritize initiatives based on customer impact and company goals.
  • Clearly communicate product vision and rationale to stakeholders across the organization.

Product Development & Execution

  • Partner closely with Engineering and Design throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Write clear product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Lead products from discovery through launch while ensuring high-quality execution.
  • Analyze product performance and customer feedback to continuously improve the experience.

Requirements

Required

  • 5+ years of Product Management experience in B2B SaaS
  • Experience owning products from discovery through launch
  • Strong customer discovery and product research skills
  • Experience translating customer problems into product solutions
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Design, Sales, and Customer Success
  • Strong analytical and prioritization skills

Preferred

  • Familiarity with modern data platforms and APIs
  • Background in vertical SaaS or industry-specific software
  • Experience with mobile or cloud-based platforms
  • Familiarity with construction workflows, especially pre-construction processes such as material takeoff and estimating
  • Experience with CAD and/or BIM systems and related design workflows

Benefits

  • Fully remote
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401K match
  • $75 monthly wellness stipend
