Remote Performance Engineer information

What is a remote performance engineer?

Remote Performance Engineers are specialized IT professionals who work from remote locations to monitor, analyze, and optimize the performance of software applications, systems, or networks. Their main goal is to ensure that digital products run efficiently and can handle user demand without slowdowns or outages. They utilize various tools and methodologies to identify bottlenecks, conduct testing, and recommend or implement solutions to improve overall system performance. These engineers often collaborate with development, operations, and QA teams to maintain high standards of reliability and speed for end users.

How does a remote performance engineer typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to address system bottlenecks?

Remote Performance Engineers frequently work alongside developers, QA analysts, and operations teams to identify and resolve system performance issues. Collaboration is often facilitated through virtual meetings, shared dashboards, and ticketing systems, allowing for real-time discussion of bottlenecks and potential solutions. Engineers may be responsible for presenting their findings, recommending optimizations, and guiding implementation while ensuring all stakeholders are aligned on priorities. Effective communication skills and proactive documentation are essential to succeed in this remote, collaborative environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote performance engineer, and why are they important?

To excel as a Remote Performance Engineer, you need a strong background in software engineering, performance testing, and systems analysis, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, New Relic, and cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, as well as relevant certifications, is highly valuable. Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective remote communication are critical soft skills for this role. These abilities ensure optimal system performance, efficient troubleshooting, and successful collaboration across distributed teams.

Job description

About us
We're on a mission to bring contracts and any other long documents to the 21st century!
We're using AI to make these documents intelligible, abstracting what matters in them and detailing their content so that humans can manipulate them easily.
We've been working on this since the beginning of 2021, and have applications in Real Estate, Finance, Insurance, and other industries. Today, we're growing fast and excited for new teammates to join us who are the best at what they do. We're passionate about building a company as diverse and creative as possible.
As a Zenlaw Full-Stack Engineer you will:
  • Develop new features working with cross-functional squads, within a distributed team
  • Use creative thinking - we are building most of our features from scratch and our product is unique
  • Solve complex, but fun, technical problems
  • Actively partner with our tech team to learn from each other and make well-rounded solutions
We are looking for a Full-Stack Engineer with:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
  • At least 2 years of proven experience as a Full-Stack Engineer or similar role
  • Experience with Golang
  • Familiarity with Object-Relation Mapping framework (ideally GORM)
  • Advanced knowledge in ReactJS, Redux, and MUI
  • Be genuinely interested in technology and love to try new things
  • Tackle complex problems but also consider multiple solutions, weigh them, and decide on the best course of action
  • Thrive on providing and receiving transparent but always constructive feedback
  • Consider multiple quality dimensions like user impact, failure tolerance, code maintenance, implementation time, security breaches, and performance
    Bonus skills:
    • DevOps (docker, kubernetes)
    • MLOps
    • Python (machine learning, Natural Language Processing, string manipulation)
You care about:
  • Ownership: you easily communicate ideas, implement them, and take responsibility for your actions
  • Helping others: sharing knowledge with your colleagues is on top of your priorities
  • Fast-paced startups: you love adapting to different situations, and you know how and when to iterate fast and with high quality
  • Our product: you believe in our vision, and are willing to give your best to build the future of Zenlaw
What we offer you:
  • Entrepreneurial responsibility and flat-hierarchies
  • Ownership of your work
  • Position 100% remote
  • Open-minded variety of nationalities
  • A collaborative, open workplace
  • Team Events
