Job description

About Ramp

Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $200B in annualized spend flows in and out of 70,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books.

The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving.

We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what youโ€™ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome.

The median Ramp customer saves 5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year โ€“ far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same.

If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it.

About the Role

The Onboarding team owns the product flows and platform that powers all new customer account creation at Ramp. This includes Ramp's application decisioning system that interfaces with our fraud, compliance, and credit underwriting models. As an engineer here, youโ€™ll own workstreams that expand Ramp's total serviceable market and improve the end-to-end customer onboarding experience. Youโ€™ll partner with product, data, and design, and work directly with stakeholders across sales, marketing, risk strategy, operations, and finance to accelerate Rampโ€™s growth. This role offers the opportunity to have an outsized impact on Rampโ€™s overall growth trajectory.

What Youโ€™ll Do
  • Build software to grow Ramp to its next millions of users

  • Scale the output of our application decisioning ops team through automation and AI assistance

  • Drive business outcomes through metric-driven software development

  • Own the customer journey from discovering and applying to Ramp through getting approved for and onboarding to the product

What You Need
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a software development role

  • Experience shipping fast, reliable applications using modern development tools and infrastructure

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly improving, start-up environment that focuses on solving problems with iterative technical solutions

  • Ability to improvise and develop creative solutions when common approaches fail. Strong value of pragmatism over idealism in times of uncertainty

  • Perpetual curiosity and passion for honing your craft

Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience with Python (Flask), SQL, and modern observability tooling

  • Experience with applying AI/LLMs in production use cases

  • Fintech or payments experience (credit underwriting, risk, compliance)

  • Exposure to AI- or rule-based automation systems
