Job Summary
Responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and education to nursing staff to enhance recognition and response to patient care issues. Assesses learning needs and develops, teaches, and evaluates education programs and competency validations. Supports the professional development and retention of novice nurses through evidence-based practice. Collaborates with leadership to identify and address educational opportunities for quality improvement. Ensures delivery of patient care through continuous staff education and support.
Essential Functions
• Assesses complex patient situations and assists nursing staff in selecting and implementing advanced interventions.
• Anticipates patient care crises, supports sound decision-making, and mobilizes resources to address urgent needs.
• Evaluates patient care quality within the clinical specialty and leads the development of clinical practice standards and guidelines.
• Interprets and ensures compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and certification requirements.
• Designs, delivers, and evaluates orientation, training, and competency validation programs for new and existing staff.
• Mentors and coaches team members, facilitating skill development, integration, and retention.
• Collaborates with nursing leadership to develop, implement, and audit core competencies and documentation practices.
• Leads and participates in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, including data collection and process evaluation.
• Provides mentorship and guidance to team members, including coaching, coordinating work schedules, and supporting professional development.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirement
Associate's degree in nursing
Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) is preferred
Experience Requirement
5-7+ years of experience in nursing, or a relevant area
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
All experience must be paid and in the same related field.
Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.
Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.

Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license, Basic Life Support (BLS)
