Job Description

The HR Benefits & Leave Partner will bring expertise, empathy, and strategic thinking to the way we support our people.

This is a remote-based HR role with a strong focus on U.S. benefits and leave administration, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FMLA, STD, LTD, paid leave programs, and regulatory compliance.

You'll serve as a trusted resource for team members and leaders while partnering with HR leadership to evaluate programs, identify opportunities, manage risk, control costs, and create a better employee experience.

What You'll Own:

  • Benefits & Leave
    • Manage the administration of U.S. employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, group life, and disability.
    • Lead administration of leave programs, including FMLA, STD, and LTD leaves of absence.
    • Advise employees on benefit eligibility, leave requirements, and related questions.
    • Develop clear, engaging benefits and leave communications, including FAQs, notifications, presentations, orientations, and benefit materials.
    • Evaluate existing benefits, leave policies, and wellness programs and recommend improvements to HR leadership.
    • Analyze self-insured medical plan costs and identify opportunities for employee engagement and cost containment.
    • Partner with HR Business Partners to address benefits and leave questions and concerns.
  • Compliance & Risk Management
    • Ensure benefits and leave programs comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Maintain working knowledge of ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, paid leave laws, and applicable IRS reporting requirements.
    • Complete required census, auditing, reporting, and compliance activities.
    • Stay current on changing regulations and help minimize organizational risk.
  • HR Business Partnership
    • Build effective relationships with employees, leaders, and HR colleagues across the organization.
    • Provide HR guidance and interpretation on employee relations matters when needed.
    • Support fair, consistent, and legally compliant people practices.
    • Participate in HR projects and initiatives focused on employee engagement, satisfaction, productivity, and retention.
    • Support onboarding, benefits enrollment, payroll processes, employee separations, and other HR activities as needed.
    • Provide management training and coaching on a variety of people-related topics.
Qualifications

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, plus 5+ years of HR experience, preferably with a strong concentration in benefits and leave administration - or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of benefits and leave administration.
  • Experience with self-insured medical plans is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of applicable benefits and leave regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with HRIS, benefits systems, and Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills.
  • Ability to explain complex benefits and leave requirements in a way employees and managers can understand.
  • Exceptional confidentiality, judgment, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and confidently figure things out in a dynamic environment.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to identify opportunities, influence decisions, and drive positive change.

Preferred Certifications: SHRM-CP, PHR, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, Certified Benefits Professional (CBP), or another benefits-related certification.

Remote - with an important location requirement.

To support our East Coast operations and maintain strong connections with our locations, candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of one of these Pyrotek locations:

Salisbury, NC
Aurora, OH

While the role is primarily remote, domestic travel of up to 20% is required.

Additional Information

The minimum and maximum salary range for this full-time position is $79,122 - $98,902 + benefits.   

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.  Please note that the compensation details listed in this posted role reflect the base salary only and do not include bonus or benefits.
