• Conduct thorough client assessments to establish comprehensive understanding and effective treatment strategies tailored to individual needs.
• Facilitate engaging therapy sessions for individuals, couples, and families using evidence-based techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
• Guide clients in recognizing and achieving their mental health goals, actively monitoring progress and adjusting therapeutic approaches as needed.
• Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential documentation in accordance with HIPAA regulations while utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other mental health professionals, to coordinate care and provide holistic support for clients.

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Friendship House, you will work with a diverse client base coping with various mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues. Your role will involve creating a supportive atmosphere where clients feel empowered to explore their thoughts and emotions while fostering resilience. Each client presents unique circumstances and background, necessitating sensitivity to cultural, social, and individual factors that influence their mental health.

• A Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
• An active Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) license in Vermont.
• Strong foundational knowledge of therapeutic methodologies and a commitment to utilizing evidence-based practices in treatment.
• Proficient interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with clients and effectively collaborate with team members.

• A minimum of two years of experience in a mental health counseling position, ideally within a community health setting.
• Experience working with diverse populations, demonstrating an understanding of different cultural contexts and their impact on mental health.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth platforms for remote counseling sessions.
