Remote Paralegal Manager information

What is a remote paralegal manager?

A Remote Paralegal Manager is a legal professional who oversees a team of paralegals while working from a remote location, often coordinating work, assigning tasks, and ensuring deadlines are met. They are responsible for managing workflow, providing guidance on legal procedures, and maintaining communication between the paralegal team and attorneys. This role combines strong leadership skills with in-depth legal knowledge, and often requires experience in both paralegal work and team management. Remote Paralegal Managers use digital tools to supervise staff, track productivity, and facilitate collaboration across different locations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote paralegal manager?

To thrive as a Remote Paralegal Manager, you need extensive legal knowledge, strong organizational skills, and prior experience managing paralegal teams, often supported by a paralegal certificate or relevant degree. Familiarity with legal research databases (such as Westlaw or LexisNexis), case management software, and secure document sharing platforms is essential. Outstanding communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities help foster team collaboration and ensure efficient workflow in a remote environment. These skills are crucial for managing distributed teams, maintaining compliance, and delivering high-quality legal support services.

How does a remote paralegal manager typically coordinate and support a distributed team to ensure consistent workflow and quality standards?

A Remote Paralegal Manager uses a combination of project management tools, regular video meetings, and clear communication protocols to oversee paralegals working from various locations. They set clear expectations, delegate tasks based on each team member’s strengths, and establish standardized processes to ensure consistent document quality and compliance. Frequent check-ins and collaborative platforms help address challenges quickly, foster teamwork, and maintain accountability. This approach allows the manager to support professional development while ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met across the remote team.

Job description

About the Opportunity
Equivity is seeking an experienced Remote Paralegal with recent law firm experience supporting at least two of the following practice areas: civil litigation, personal injury, employment law, criminal law, commercial litigation, or family law.

This is an assignment-based opportunity designed for paralegals who value the flexibility of remote work and enjoy supporting a variety of law firms and matters across the country. As client needs evolve, assignments and workload may vary based on business demand. This role is a good fit for an experienced paralegal who values professional flexibility and is comfortable with a workload that can fluctuate rather than requiring a guaranteed number of weekly hours from the outset.

When actively supporting clients, responsiveness is important. Because client needs can arise on short notice, paralegals are expected to remain responsive to their active clients and Equivity managers within one hour during their stated availability.

If you're an experienced paralegal who appreciates autonomy, remote flexibility, and the opportunity to work with multiple legal teams, this assignment-based model may be a strong fit.

Responsibilities May Include
  • Managing matters from intake through resolution
  • Drafting pleadings, correspondence, discovery, and other legal documents
  • Preparing and submitting state and federal court filings
  • Supporting discovery, document production, legal research, and trial preparation
  • Maintaining case calendars and tracking court, discovery, and client deadlines
  • Scheduling hearings, depositions, mediations, meetings, and trials
  • Communicating professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, vendors, and other legal professionals
  • Monitoring case progress and anticipating attorney needs
  • Adapting to different attorney workflows, practice areas, and case-management systems

We Are Looking For
  • Must reside in the United States
  • At least three years of recent law firm paralegal experience
  • Substantive experience in at least two of the following areas:
    • Civil litigation
    • Personal injury
    • Employment law
    • Criminal law
    • Commercial litigation
    • Family law
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least 20 hours of weekly availability for potential assignments
  • Strong legal writing, organization, communication, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities remotely
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and legal software
  • Experience with Clio is preferred
  • Access to a reliable computer and internet connection; a Windows-based computer is preferred
  • Ability to respond within one hour during stated availability

Compensation and Work Structure
  • W-2 employment
  • Compensation: $26 per hour
  • Remote, assignment-based work
  • Assignments are determined by client demand, experience, qualifications, and availability
  • Assignment volume and working hours may vary
  • Client assignments may take time to develop and are not guaranteed immediately upon joining
  • Benefits eligibility may depend on employment status and applicable plan requirements

Why Join Equivity?
At Equivity, you will join a nationwide team of experienced legal professionals supporting attorneys and law firms across the country. You will receive ongoing support from Equivity’s operations and leadership teams while performing substantive legal work in your areas of experience.

Benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid sick time
  • Annual performance bonus
  • 6-month performance review with potential pay increase
  • Expense reimbursement
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Supportive long-term remote work environment
