As a Remote Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Ascend Medical, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Conducting individual therapy sessions with clients through secure video chat, using evidence-based therapeutic techniques that promote positive mental health outcomes.
• Encouraging clients to express their emotions and experiences, facilitating self-exploration, and fostering insight regarding their mental health challenges.
• Acting as a client advocate by assisting them in identifying and setting achievable personal goals in their therapeutic journeys.
• Performing thorough evaluations of clients’ mental health conditions and developing personalized treatment plans that incorporate a solution-focused approach, tailored to the needs of each individual.

The clients you will be working with are stable adults, primarily low-acuity individuals who have undergone thorough pre-screening processes to ensure suitability for telehealth services. This lack of high-acuity cases allows counselors to focus on providing targeted support without the pressure of severe mental health crises. Additionally, we prioritize matching counselors with clients that align with their specialized skill sets and demographic preferences, promoting a more cohesive therapeutic relationship.

Candidates must meet the following qualifications to be considered for this role:

• A Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology.
• Current, unrestricted licensure as a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), licensed professional counselor (LPC), or licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in good standing with the state board.
• No limited or provisional licenses or disciplinary actions on record.

While not mandatory, the following experiences are preferred for applicants:

• Prior experience in a community health setting, particularly in a remote capacity.
• Familiarity with telehealth platforms and online counseling methodologies.
• A strong empathy-driven approach to therapy with demonstrated interpersonal skills.
