POSITION SUMMARY
The Sales Support Engineer serves as a critical technical partner to Sales and customers, delivering hands-on expertise across industrial water treatment programs within pulp & paper and heavy industrial facilities. This role blends field engineering, process optimization, and customer support, ensuring Solenis solutions deliver measurable performance, reliability, and value at the plant level.You will work directly inside customer facilities, collaborating with Account Managers and plant stakeholders to optimize chemical treatment programs, troubleshoot system issues, and drive continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer & Account Support
  • Provide on-site technical support for assigned pulp & paper and industrial accounts
  • Build strong relationships with mill operations, maintenance, and environmental teams
  • Partner with Sales to maintain customer satisfaction, retention, and program value delivery

Technical Program Execution
  • Implement and manage water treatment and process chemical programs (e.g., boilers, cooling, wet end, wastewater)
  • Conduct routine system monitoring, sampling, and lab/field testing to ensure program effectiveness
  • Analyze results and make data-driven adjustments to optimize performance and cost efficiency

Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement
  • Diagnose and resolve process, chemical, and equipment-related issues at customer sites
  • Support root cause analysis and lead corrective action plans in partnership with Sales and plant teams
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance system performance

Equipment & Systems Support
  • Maintain and troubleshoot chemical feed systems, dosing equipment, and monitoring instrumentation
  • Ensure proper calibration, operation, and reliability of all installed systems
  • Support installation and startup of new equipment or program changes

Data, Reporting & Commercial Support
  • Maintain detailed service reports, inventory tracking, and account documentation
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to customers and internal sales teams
  • Support Account Managers by identifying growth opportunities and value-add solutions within existing accounts

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field (preferred)
  • 3-5+ years of experience in:
    • Industrial water treatment, pulp & paper, or related process industries
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Chemical treatment programs
    • Plant operations / process systems
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and field-service experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders
