What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Owner Operator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Owner Operator, you need a valid commercial driver's license (CDL), experience with freight logistics, and strong business management skills. Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs), route planning software, and fleet management systems is typically required. Exceptional self-motivation, time management, and problem-solving abilities set top performers apart. These skills are crucial for ensuring regulatory compliance, maximizing efficiency, and running a profitable independent trucking operation.

What are some common challenges remote owner operators face, and how can they manage them effectively?

Remote owner operators often encounter challenges such as managing their own schedules, maintaining their vehicles without access to a central facility, and staying compliant with industry regulations. To succeed, it's important to develop strong organizational skills, regularly communicate with dispatchers and clients, and use digital tools for route planning and document management. Networking with other owner operators and staying updated on industry requirements can also help you navigate these challenges and run your operation smoothly.

What is a Remote Owner Operator?

A Remote Owner Operator is a self-employed truck driver who owns and operates their own vehicle, managing transportation contracts typically from a remote or home-based location. Unlike company drivers, they are responsible for their own equipment, expenses, scheduling, and business operations. Remote Owner Operators often use technology and digital platforms to secure loads, communicate with clients, and manage logistics without being tied to a specific company's location or terminal. This role offers greater independence but also requires strong business management skills and responsibility for all aspects of the operation.

Job description

Job Title: Director of Operations / Operations Manager

The architect of how the agency runs.

Department: Executive Leadership

Reports To: Founder & CEO

Type: Full-Time, Salaried

Location: United States or Canada

Hours: Eastern Time core hours, Mon-Fri

Start: ASAP

WHAT'S HAPPENING RIGHT NOW

This is the moment you join. The company is in motion across four major fronts:

  • Flagship Event: Hosting roughly 200 agency owners across four days in Las Vegas (June 11-14).
  • Geographic Expansion: Scaling into the United Kingdom market.
  • AI Integration: Deploying a full AI agent infrastructure across the business.
  • HQ Buildout: Establishing a flagship destination headquarters for the agency industry.

The person who joins now is not joining a finished company. They are joining a company being built.

ABOUT THE FIRM

We are a high-ticket coaching, consulting, and implementation firm. We work exclusively with $1M-$10M+ agency owners, helping them transform from "talent-heavy, owner-dependent" businesses into high-margin, scalable operations. We do this through high-level masterminds, implementation intensive programs, and advanced AI-agent integration.

We are a "systems-first" company. We don't just teach the standard; we build it.

THE MISSION

The Director of Operations is the "Right Hand" to the CEO. While the CEO focuses on vision, marketing, and the "Big Ideas," you own the machine that makes those ideas a reality.

You are responsible for:

  1. System Integrity: Ensuring every department (Sales, Marketing, Success, Admin) has a clear, documented, and automated operating system.
  2. Strategic Execution: Turning high-level visionary goals into project plans with clear owners, timelines, and milestones.
  3. Performance Management: Ensuring the team hits their KPIs and that the company stays on its "rhythm" (Daily/Weekly/Quarterly).
  4. Operational Leverage: Finding ways to increase output and revenue without a linear increase in headcount or effort.
WHO YOU ARE

You are a high-level Operator. You don't just "manage" people; you architect the environment they work in.

  • You are a Builder: You prefer the "blank page" to a maintenance role. You love the puzzle of making a messy process clean, fast, and scalable.
  • You are Detail-Obsessed: You notice the typo in the SOP, the broken automation in the CRM, and the missing owner on the project task.
  • You are Commercially Driven: You understand that operations exist to drive profit. You think in terms of capacity, client retention, and ROI.
  • You are High-Velocity: You move fast. You don't need weeks to "get settled." You start spotting leaks and building fixes on day one.
  • You are Tech-Fluent: You understand how to bridge the gap between human workflows and software tools (Project Management, AI, CRM).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Infrastructure & Systems Architecture

  • Own the tech stack. Ensure our project management software, CRM, and communication tools are integrated and used properly.
  • Build the "Knowledge Base." Oversee the creation and maintenance of the vault containing all company SOPs, scripts, and workflows.

2. Departmental Performance & Accountability

  • Conduct weekly 1:1s with department heads to track progress against quarterly rocks.
  • Hold the team accountable to the standard. You are the "Keeper of the Bar."

3. Project Management & Delivery

  • Act as the central hub for major company initiatives (e.g., event launches, geographic expansion).
  • Ensure projects stay on budget and on schedule, identifying and removing blockers before they stall progress.

4. Financial & P&L Oversight

  • Review departmental spending and budgets with the CEO.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends in client churn, sales efficiency, and delivery capacity.

5. Operating Rhythm

  • Own the cadence: Daily Huddles, Weekly Lead-Team Meetings, and Quarterly Offsites.
  • Ensure communication is crisp, meetings are productive, and action items are captured.

Requirements

  • Senior Leadership Experience: 5+ years in a senior operations role (COO, Director of Ops, or GM) within a professional services, coaching, or high-growth agency environment.
  • Systems Track Record: You must be able to show us the actual systems you have built. If you only "managed a team that built it," you are not the right fit.
  • Remote Discipline: Ability to lead a distributed team across multiple time zones while remaining highly visible and accessible.
  • Eastern Time Alignment: Availability during core ET business hours is mandatory.
  • Software Mastery: Expert proficiency in Project Management (ClickUp preferred), CRM systems (GoHighLevel/HubSpot), and Slack.

Benefits

Compensation: $100,000 to $160,000 + bonus

Benefits: Full health, dental, vision. PTO. Travel covered.

HOW TO APPLY

Every candidate must complete the following before being considered:

Step 1. Complete the behavioral/Culture Index survey (the link will be sent on a separate email upon application)

Step 2. Submit your resume and a 3-to-5 minute video. Use it to walk us through one operational system you have personally built and scaled. Describe what was broken, what you built, and what changed because of it.

Step 3. Qualified candidates will be invited into our hiring pipeline for interviews with the recruiting team, the hiring manager, and the CEO.
